I have been working at Zimmer full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good products, revenue stream is decent. However, they are not making their projections.

    Cons

Over the past five years Zimmer Dental has significantly lost market share because of poor management and late-to-market technologies. The Dental business as a whole has become a commodity. They have slid to the 5th or 6th largest player while at one time they used to be second. The competition introduced CAD/cam technology several years ago. Zimmer is struggling to get this off the ground.

They outsource their regenerative medicine products which have faced safety recall issues, launch delays and backorder problems.

Financial decisions are made from the parent company out of Warsaw Indiana which means the dental division does not have the ability to hire and back fill open positions. They work on limited budgets and resources. They are trying to reorganize but at present it appears to be imploding.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

High turnover in nearly every department, limited resources, poor management, lack of innovation has made them a C player at best. Management needs to have the ability to manage their own budget separate from Warsaw headquarters. The physical office is in shambles and needs to be upgraded. Meetings are a waste of time. At some point employees need to be able to make decisions and implement. This company is in turmoil at present and needs to be reorganized.

I worked at Zimmer full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great place to work, benefits are fair compared to low level companies (could be better). Good 401K Plan, good working ambience and the backup of a large corporation that offers more security than other companies.

    Cons

Lack of opportunity for growth, no in-house training. Employees are not treated as people, just number machines. Opinions and input are ignored frequently and managers fail to give proper credit / recognition to employees when deserved. Some discrimination based on race, education and position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper Management must go beyond bureaucracy to discover the real reasons why the numbers are not right. The pyramid culture of blame always punish the wrong employees, this brings the morality and spirit of the company down
