Salaries plateau at each job grage and promotions are slow to devlope because many people stay in the same job for many many years

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more younger employees...marketing dep has done this successfully and brought energetic and creative people into a team that collaborates well, advances new ideas and is entreprenurial. Also, rotate job rolesso employees are challenged to learn new skill sets and build broader networks within the organization.

    Pros

    Good opportunities for advancement, especially for younger employees. Older employees tend to get slotted into a track and dead-ended.

    Cons

    Management embraces whatever the hot trend is and makes changes without consideration for unexpected consequences. Emphasis is on "One Zurich", the creation of a mythical monolithic corporate culture and the standardization of workflows across the company. This has a major downside of suppressing entrepreneurism and innovation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Focus on core competencies and not constantly changing the organizational structure or workflow management just for the sake of change.

    Time consuming and exhausting with no relief in site; however, the compensation was fairly decent.

    Pros

    The salary is very good or on the high end given one's experience in handling commercial claims; learning experience with handling litigated files, and quite challenging time limits for resolving claims.

    Cons

    Very time consumin and competitive; if you cannot meet the numbers, you will have negative feedback from management.'

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Please set more reasonable and attainable goals for your adjusters; working your adjusters all day and all night (almost literally, or approximately 16 hours per day) is not productive.
