I worked at Zynga full-time for more than a year

Pros

There are still some good people working for the outfit, so if you are an intern it may be a good way to get industry experience. Otherwise it's a dead end job with a company that is going nowhere fast.

Cons

The company is a true and honest sweatshop. Zynga is not an innovator, but a replicator. If you consider yourself creative you have no business working for the company. It's all abou aping other people's games and making a quick buck while you are at it. This is not a sustainable long-term plan, the financials and the stock price show it. Zynga is stingy with salaries and "generous" with stock, that happens to drop like a rock.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pincus should let someone who knows what they are doing run the company. He is clearly not up to the task, nor are any of his lieutenants. Unfortunately, he would rather drive the company into the ground because of his ego.

I worked at Zynga full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Really impressed with the infrastructure and processes around data analysis
    - Rigor around developing you via applied experience
    - bright people all around
    - great office/benefits

    Cons

    - obviously some turmoil in the press, but somewhat overstated IMHO- company just needs to deliver, which I believe it will
    - Certain tools needed to do the job well can be slow, impacting ability to move fast during certain hours
    - Long hours, but worth it to teach you how to prioritize and to get add'l experience which would take twice as long anywhere else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set expectations appropriately and hit them both with Wall Street as well as with employees.

I have been working at Zynga part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

it is local in San Francisco. Free meals 3x week. Typical new media feel, so hours and choice of clothing/hair colour are free.

    Cons

The hours can be regular or out of control, depending what team you are on. Most of the exec staff (those that haven't jumped or been pushed) don't know what they are doing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring ex-EA people that tried to run that company into the ground.
