I worked at athenahealth full-time (more than an year)

Pros

* Good pay and benefits
* Perks: billiard table, beer fridge, doughnut Friday
* Fun culture, easy-going people that generally work hard
* Smart developers, if a bit distracted sometimes

Cons

* Full stack work is mostly scripting
* Technical debt rarely addressed
* Codebase needs a lot of work: not DRY, few standard objects or interfaces, much spaghetti

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on the code. Start using Design Patterns and enforce standards. New features/promises to big contract clients have ravaged the codebase.

    I have been working at athenahealth full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Grow to your potential, the sky is the limit

    Cons

    You're expected to work hard, I don't see this as a con, but some of the babies that are coming out of college may not completely understand the definition of work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep the train rolling! 30% growth year after year? Nothing wrong with that.
