    I worked at athenahealth full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Work space was clean and comfortable

    Cons

    Manager and senior leadership have no clue what the team works on, and can't decide on anything. They sound like echoes that repeats team's suggestions and makes it their own, making it hard to have sense of ownership of tasks. Promotions and bonuses are based on political motives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    First of all, the right person should be chosen for this position. If you are not feeling good about this review, re-evaluate yourself and the team would be doing much better.

    I worked at athenahealth full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    * Good pay and benefits
    * Perks: billiard table, beer fridge, doughnut Friday
    * Fun culture, easy-going people that generally work hard
    * Smart developers, if a bit distracted sometimes

    Cons

    * Full stack work is mostly scripting
    * Technical debt rarely addressed
    * Codebase needs a lot of work: not DRY, few standard objects or interfaces, much spaghetti

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Focus on the code. Start using Design Patterns and enforce standards. New features/promises to big contract clients have ravaged the codebase.
