bebe stores – “Bad experience because of horrible, lazy management”

The pay is good for retail. In Canada, you make $9/hr plus 5% commission for every $100 dollars you sell. The product you sell isn't cheap either, so $100 isn't hard to make.
The employee discount is 40%.
Stylish store with fashionable clothing.
Cons
When I was first hired by BEBE, they made me read a large booklet on rules and regulations and made be sign a contract so that I could not sue the company in the future for whatever reason.
You have to wear BEBE clothes or clothes that look like BEBE, with no logo and in solid colors that are in season.
My manager was a TERRIBLE and lazy woman. She lost many direct deposit forms of her employees and brushed it off, giving cheques instead (which isn't very convinient). Often I would go to the back and see her sitting at the desk, browing the internet and doing basically nothing. When I asked her to talk to another store manager on my behalf, she lied to me and told me that she had already, when in reality she didn't even bother. The management is obsessed with sales and do not care about employees. They give you a budget and it grows higher every month -- so that it can "challenge" us to sell more. Your performance, along with your co-workers, is printed in the backroom for everyone to see. They rank employees according to performance in the following areas: amount sold, number of new clients, sales per hour, etc. Often I would have my sales stolen by other sales associates. I was very disappointed with management and their inabilty to lead the store well. I felt very used by BEBE.
When you are hired you are automatically on a 3 month probation period where you can be "let go" without warning or explanation. If your sales are not up to par you will lose your job.
At the end of the day, you have to sweap, windex the mirrors and glass, take out the trash and do other chores in your high heels. Clean-up after closing usually takes an hour.
I definately do not suggest working at BEBE at pacific centre. If you want to work for BEBE in the Vancouver area, I would suggest Robson Street, where the management is decent and does not treat their employees like dirt.
Advice to Senior Management
Get off your butt and interact with your employees in an honest manner. My manager at BEBE always forgot the names of her employees and only cared about the amount they sold!
