I have been working at eBay Enterprise

Pros

Most people that I have worked with in the trenches have been very nice - talented ones leave quickly tho.

Cons

Must be tough skin to work at GSI and have ability to get in the right click - as long as you kiss ass you don't need to know much to get promoted.

I have been working at eBay Enterprise

    Pros

Accurate paycheck, free coffee, free popcorn and pizza sometimes. Free parking. Discount on ebay items as it is an ebay company

    Cons

Low pay, kept as a temporary for a long time, strict attendance and drug policy, strict break and lunch time adherence as to minutes taken from time clock to time clock. Have units per hour quotas on every job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stress quailty over quanity, see the process, like slow and under capacity Main frame. Physical plant layout under capacity, few elevators, malfunctioning RFscanners or lack of transmitting capability. Don't promise a bonus and renege on them just because it's a temporary employee and you can get away with it..

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at eBay Enterprise

    Pros

Some really great people (in the trenches)
Certain departments offer great flexibility (work from home, casual dress)
Interesting work most of the time

    Cons

    v9 platform
been ignored for last 6+ months
minimal resources assigned to this platform
Workforce is divided and in most cases v9 teams have no insight into v11 teams - most v9 teams are losing people because of the lack of involvement on the v11 platform (lack of future employment with the company if/when v11 launches)
Clients are unhappy with lack of support on v9 patform and lack of visibility to current status of new platform

    v11 platform
more than 12 months behind scedule
New company holiday schedule released in December 2011 and 3 days prior to first holiday of the year, announcement was made that no one doing work for v11 platform was permitted to take designated holiday in January or February of 2012.
PTO is not permitted to be carried over without special VP approval - Very hard to get approval - If approved, must be used during 1st quarter of following year - Announcement was sent out on March 4, 2012 asking v11 managers to minimize approvals of PTO until v11 launches - current date of launch is after end of 1st quarter which means some people will lose the approved carryover - So sad, since the days weren't taken in 2011 due to v11 being behind schedule.
Workers in the trenches have been raising concerns about v11 progress, only to be told, keep positive, do not share concerns with anyone other than your immediate manager, work through the the issues, we have invested too much to pull back now.
Work/Life balance is non existant (10-12 hour days 5 days a week & at least another 8 on weekends)
Management is untrustworthy - I have experienced at least three occasions where one specific high level VP has given information to one person and then contradicted himself to another.
SVP acknowledged in January 2012 employee frustration, but I have seen no plan to correct the overall problems
Even with the house cleaning in October 2011 - still too many leaders for the number of workers
CEO and CTO are never seen in the v11 ecom Technology building - CTO has an office no the 3rd floor, but no-one has ever seen him in it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

STOP hiring management/VP level positions and hire associates to assist with the workload. STOP cutting corners, it will cost you more in the marketplace, if you don't do it right the first time. STOP killing your workforce. People without down time are less productive. LISTEN to your employees. They are the ones doing the work that generates the revenue which pays your salary. INVEST in developing the great associates that you are on the verge of losing.

CEO & CTO should come around and see what is going on. Do not speak to the management team, but to the day in and day out, hands-on person in the office. They have a lot to tell you about the company, if you would just LISTEN.
