I have been working at eBay as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Free soda and bagels on Wednesday.

    Cons

Everything. No work-life balance. Treat individual contributors like less than human. Fed lies and and BS daily basis.

    Advice to Management

Stop being super controlling and full of crap. And, if you are so entitled then you should talk to John Donahoe about being his replacement since you are apparently really smart and know everything.

I have been working at eBay full-time

    Pros

Fortune 100 company, recognized brand, collegial coworkers

    Cons

bloated management, too many layers. Promotions are hard to come by unless you play the political game. Leaders are measured by how well they manage upwards not how well they manage people. Too much Microsoft thinking and process has crept in via all the Microsoft employees in leadership and middle management.. A culture of risk management and consensus driven culture keeps real innovation from happening.

    Advice to Management

Grow the next gen of talent instead of introducing more layers. Talent is being snapped up by other companies in the valley. Career opportunities and growth are few and far between.
