    Pros

Great work life balance. There is a lot of team spirit within your immediate team to help out when you need support on a large projects. Everyone is very easy to get along with. The new head office is a very good building to work in. It's comfortable and you have all the facilities you need and the environment allows you to work in a very stress free way.

    Cons

Managers don't listen to their teams. This applies at all levels. The higher up you go the worse it gets. This is a generalisation, but more the rule than the exception. Furthermore, the perception is that managers don't even care about the people who report to them. If you have any good ideas or suggestions for improvement these are ignored as management have blinkers on and are set in their ways. Managers are so busy trying to impress their own manager that they forget about who is reporting to them. Promotions are only made each time their is a downsizing/re-org activity going on, and the reasons those that are chosen for these scarce promotions are highly questionable. If you have worked for Eircom for more than 3 years then you are wasting your life and ruining your career. Get out as soon as you can and never look back. If you work your guts out or cruise at a slow pace it makes no difference. Staff surveys are only done once a year and management just don't get it. There is ample feedback that could help improve life for all at Eircom but management seem to be just ignoring it. The strongest indication that working for Eircom is so bad is the fact that so many people are just getting up and leaving. The churn rate is amazing. And to make things worse the company doesn't even try and encourage them to stay. Totally pathetic attitude from management. And hiring managers are saying it's hard to find the right people to replace those that have left. That is obvious because the right people wouldn't make the mistake of choosing to work for Eircom. Why would they? There is no compelling reason to risk ruining your career here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do more surveys (once per quarter) instead of once per year. Absorb the feedback from the survey and do something about it! You are running what is potentially a flagship company that is a very significant part of the telecoms industry in Ireland and you are letting it go to ruins. Your own stupidity is wasting this opportunity. We could be pulling in twice the revenue at half the operating costs and more than double the profits if you did things right.
