I worked at hhgregg full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

This was a fantastic place to work when it was a Private company. All about family, teamwork and in it together mentality. You felt like they care about each and every one of their employees as well as their customers.

    Cons

Slowly became a not so pleasant place which coinsides with the move to a public company. Less interest in the customer needs and employee input and more about getting rid of the established and knowledgeable employees and cut the workforce to the detriment of the customer experience. Hired less informed staff that worked for less. The result is unhappy workforce and customer aggravation. Decision makers at corporate level have no idea what their actions does to moral. Upper management not intune with what matters and what had worked from 1955 thru 2005. What a shame.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Worry a little less about the bottom line and more about what had worked for years. I would start by hiring back a few of the people that cared that were let go and clean house with the ones you have that are not interested in making the company a success. Change the atmosphere so the non-management employees are not "scared" of losing their jobs. These people should not be just counting the days until retirement. HH and Fansy Gregg would be very disappointed of how this place has changed from what they started.
