I have been working at hhgregg full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Pay is good if you can sell. Customer service skills are a definite must. There are opportunities to move up, but you have to jump through hoops to do so.

Cons

Commission structure is outdated. Use of draw system is not working the way it should. Making employees work over 40 hours in a week is ridiculous due to the draw system. Full-time employees should work around 34-36 hours a week.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not take your employees for granted. Make sure that you hire competent individuals.

    I worked at hhgregg full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Retail experience, exposure to many new consumer electronics and pay is good if you know how to sell service plans.

    Cons

    Management will determine job satisfaction. If you have supportive and encouraging staff, you'll do fine; especially if you haven't had retail experience before. The money to be made is in the PSP. You'll do great if you can sell service plans, phones and/or installations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Push personalized advertising like one of your competitors with a bulls-eye for a logo does. Turnover rate might improve if pay was base plus commission. Ensure company policies and procedures are being followed. Consistency regarding disciplinary actions was a problem at the store I was in. Inability to properly schedule led to many decent associates dismissal for draw infractions.

    Don't even think that you will make more than minimum wage.

    Pros

    You are at least not selling in the heat or cold outside.

    Cons

    They put advertisements out with coupons that cut all the profit out of sales and your commission goes away.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't sell cheap garbage for door busters because you just attract cheap customers.
