I have been working at inVentiv Health full-time (more than a year)

Pros

The company goes through so many interations that it's really best for those starting out or in career transitions. Great people and energy overall. Some great talent has thrived there over the years.

Cons

Outdated systems, management somewhat out of touch with the industry, company is not interested in personal growth.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider retaining the best talent and investing in them.

I have been working at inVentiv Health full-time

    Pros

some flexibility with working at home.

    Cons

no appreciation awards for administrative staff. you mean nothing to them if you are not billable.
The company shows favoritism and does care how hard you work. Too much restructuring of departments, poor communication - no knows what is going on. Just leased out 3rd floor and moved everyone to first and second floors and they are still not done downsizing. Data Management has been shifted to India. Out dated Distribution Lists, - half the people do not get communication. Benefits are good but the deductible for the employee is outrageous. It's a private company so their resources are low. They have many pending projects. Many errors. No guaranteed bonus or raise every year for all your hard work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate on a weekly basis with your staff including the non billable people. Explain any issues at that time, not a year from now when they show up on a review. Get systems in place. All this manual tracking of information only increases errors. Be sure everyone involved is on the same page. Half the people never become informed of new processes. People are leaving the company.

I worked at inVentiv Health full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good Salaries for contract field sales.
    Company cars.
Very little inVentiv involvement - everything comes from and is dictated by the client company. This can be good or bad depending only on the client.
Good place to begin a sales rep or DM career in pharma.

    Cons

VERY few people in the home office/upper management to actually help out the field with issues/questions/information. They seem to "wing it" on many, many things. Can be frustrating as a field employee.
    Terrible health benefits!
Since it is contract, there is always ambiguity and you always wonder when your job will end.
No real career path to move up in the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When contracts end, actually try to place good people on other contracts. The company culture has shifted to "hiring outside the company is always best." It used to be if you had a track record of success, you would get placed. Now inVentiv is always mum and allows all decisions to be made by the client. Give employees a way to actually stick with inVentiv long term.
