I have been working at lululemon part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    athletic enviornment
free yoga classes (there is a con to this , see below)
no need to be a pushy salesperson- product sells itself
bonus - nothing generous but a nice addition to the low hourly wage

    Cons

They offer discounts to other yoga teachers but the employees discount is limited and employees receive NOTHING FOR FREE. (unlike other retailers which give its employees free clothing every quarter)
Management wants to become way too involved in employees life. They preach about work-life balance and how you should love your job. At $13 an hour it seems a bit ridiculous to "love" your job which consists of selling over priced items which not even I, the employee can afford.

This is especially true because the company expects so much out of its employees and its illegal; for example working off the clock , no sick time and pressuring employees to attend yoga classes that are not paid just so employees can "advertise" lululemon to other yogis ,(and they dont even get paid for it!!!). It seems to take away from the whole intent of yoga in the first place. I am bothered with work related issues while I am on my lunch break....Among many other annoyances.

At first this place motivates you and excites you, but within 4 months of working there, you truly begin to see the facade behing lululemons mantra. The fakeness of its employees which become brainwashed for low pay and if you are not one of the brainwashed, they will simply fire you.

Lululemon makes it seem like they are doing you a favor for letting you work there and the company masks itself with a fake veil of holiness ...

but in the end, its a company that sells $98 nylon pants that are made in china.

This place is waiting to get sued.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't talk to employees as if they are dumb. You will just lose all the good talent you have and if the employee is truly an asset to the company the pay your employees more so that they can at least afford what they sell. (with my wages, it takes 6 hours of work to purchase a pair of pants.)
