    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

The uShip has a very casual environment where you can wear flip flops, ride around on scooters, and nosh from the snack closet. The company chef is great and makes lunch for everyone four days a week.

    Cons

The cons include low pay, favoritism, and senior management's difficulty sharing authority. Priorities change often and it is unclear how each person's day-to-day efforts relate to a strategic vision. Turnover (both voluntary and involuntary) is high.

    Advice to Management

uShip will have a hard time attracting and retaining top talent until compensation is brought up to industry standards across departments and until senior management learns to relinquish absolute authority. Also, firing people is bad for company morale.

Interesting work but chaos within management and low pay

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

uShip has a very relaxed culture and a great office in the heart of downtown. The employees are young and interesting and generally a joy to work with. The product, while not sexy, is something that serves a real need and makes lives better.

    Cons

The management are generally ham-fisted, arrogant, and too engaged in in-fighting to see past their own internal politics. uShip's growth has been snail-paced and there isn't much incentive to stay there for more than a token period of time, especially as most managers and up are hired from outside the company.

    Advice to Management

Focus on improving the product rather than expanding into international markets where success is extremely unlikely. Increase base pay and take emphasis off of equity. Engage with employees at all levels and extinguish the acrimony caused by certain members of the executive team.
