I have been working at zulily full-time (more than a year)

Pros

zulily has a great atmosphere. The people are always so friendly and the dress code is relaxed. There is room for movement within the company and opportunity for you to be at the forefront of change.

Cons

The big one... low compensation. They definitely low ball and make it difficult for you to get raises. The work load is high too. There's also little direction from management in developing skills.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer competitive salaries. OR accept that there's going to be a high turnover rate. Team outings are not enough to cover cost-of-living.

I have been working at zulily full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Positive, friendly atmosphere. Casual, play-centric culture, management is open to suggestion almost to a fault. Flexible scheduling.

    Cons

Poor hiring patterns (high turnover with no backfilling so people go weeks or months doing the work of 3 or 4 people) , low, LOW compensation with virtually no raises, sloppy processes excused by the "we're a start-up" song and dance. We're not a start-up, we're a publicly traded company with an enormous disparity of income between the exec level and the rest of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop weaseling out of paying for services. Give people proper, market-rate compensation, give proper benefits instead of asking people to cut chunks out of their healthcare benefits in order to cover transportation costs, stop undercutting the entire freelance market with your low rates, stop hiring people to low rates by promising lots of overtime and then refusing to allow anyone to work OT hours, and stop relying on salaried employees working 50-65 hour weeks on a regular basis with no overtime pay. When you treat people like they are replaceable, guess what? You will have to replace them.

    Unorganized, chaotic, non-existent training

I worked at zulily as a contractor

    Pros

It's pretty easy to get a job here. They hire a lot of recent college grads

    Cons

They pay very little and everyone is stressed out. The turnover rate here is high and it's no secret hat pretty much everyone is looking to leave as soon as they can find something better. There is no training so be prepared to either sink or swim but spend the first couple months confused. There are a lot of unwritten rules that you find out the hard way about the work process. Team leads are overworked and subsequently less willing and available to help answer questions and the people around you are also new and have no training.
