Pros
Never know what is going to appear on desk for work to do.
Cons
Not interested in allowing teleworking
Advice to Senior Management
Allow teleworking
Pros
Location and compensation were good
Cons
Hired as a Project Manager, main responsibility were to fill out paperwork for their PSO. Nitpicked on inconsequential details while they miss major innovation opportunities. Contractors are disposable (treated like toilet paper). Employees act superior and are exclusive and generally mediocre. Hardly ever heard a friendly conversation between people or laughter.
Advice to Senior Management
Spend a little less time in Lean, Gartner and PSO and spend a little more time on people, innovation and projects.
Pros
Benefits, ability to purchase an additional 2weeks vacation
Cons
Organized into business units vs centralized. No chiefs, just Indians
Advice to Senior Management
Create chiefs, reservoir engineer, geoscience
Pros
Friday's Off
Health benefits
5% retirement matching + 8% pension contribution
Vacation as a function of age, not years with company
Denver and Calgary offices
Cons
Being a pure natural gas company in $4 gas environment.
Advice to Senior Management
All our plays are pure natural gas - no liquids-rich ones (any oil plays went to Cenovous). In a $4-5/mmbtu price environment, how are we going to survive? Some of our plays have quite high levelized supply costs, at least look at some natural gas liquids sands/shales to offset the low gas environment and look at them now.
Pros
2 Fridays off each month
Cons
Salary is lower than others in the industry.
Accounting being under valued within the company.
Pros
Interesting work and supportive environment.
Cons
The pace and duration of change was tough to manage.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide better training for new leads.
Pros
Two Fridays off every month, great culture and exciting work! Calgary is a great city to work in too thought the winters can be cold!
Cons
No international projects is a downside, the winters in Calgary can be cold, it is a very operations focused company so people with engineers background tend to do well.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue doing what you're doing, the Fridays off are amazing! More social events at the company would be nice. Overall good job!
Pros
Great compensation, great benefits, commitment to environment.
Cons
Very bureaucratic in its operations. The separation of business units is not only on paper but functional. It feels like your BU is its own separate company with its own rules because that is how it operates. To cross the BU lines for any reason is almost impossible.
Advice to Senior Management
Simplify and listen to improvements.
Pros
This is a great company to work for. The work is interesting and the people you work with are fun and smart.
Cons
Lots of downtime. Other than that there is nothign bad i can say about EnCana. Great place to work fulltime
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to do what you are doing. This is a great place to work for anybody of any age or experience
Pros
The pay and the benefits are competitive. The prestige associated with the name. Good professional training and mentorship.
Cons
a disconnect between the tradesmen on the field and the professionals in the office. The Tradesmen are always suspicious of management. ITs shortsighted focues of Oil and Gas plays in North America alone is flawed.
Advice to Senior Management
Great potential to be as big as shell.Improve the operator/management relations. Be clearer about you intentions for oilco
