I worked at Enbridge as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Excellent salary, benefits, corporate responsibility, growth opportunities
There is excellent potential for growth with Enbridge whether in technology, operations or administration. The demands of a changing world push the company to innovate, there are many areas to work that are on the cutting edge.

    Cons

Bargaining units coupled with old school corporate politics prevent most great talent from staying while encouraging the mediocre to linger for a lifetime.
Innovation ends up hidden or muddled in bureaucracy, and value statements such as "Do it right the first time" seem to be lip service only.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a creative solution to merge the company's vision/values with operational reality. In particular recruiting practices Do Not match the company's Vision!

I have been working at Enbridge as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Overall the company is stable and does offer some educational opportunities to staff. Interesting work and met some wonderful people.

    Cons

Very rigid old-world structure. Does not value employees highly and needs to work on staff morale as management manages upward. Lots of work so if work/life balance is important this may be an issue. Vague policies and procedures for staff which need to be in writing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to increase morale and select management for that in order to make the company more progressive. Need human resources manual that is complete.
