If you prefer benefits and good pay over a strong and positive culture, this is the company for you.

    Competitive salaries
    Talented and intelligent co-workers

    Poor management practices
    A lot of gossip

Encana is a fun but strenuous place to work. The benefits seem to make up for a lot of negatives.

    Marketing (Former Employee) Denver, CO

ProsGreat benefits and working environment - vacation based on age from 3-8 weeks; 401K match up to 10%; money purchase plan solely contributed to by Encana; every other Friday off; free drinks and snacks in the office; more offices than cubicles; full IT support 24 hours a day; company phone or contribution to bill; stipend for parking and wellness ($2500 a year); annual bonus averaging 20% of salary; long term incentives; excellent insurance; Ecopass

ConsEncana is poor at leadership selection. Leaders are often put into positions based solely on tenure rather than actual qualifications for the position. Also, personnel management skills are a low priority for selecting managers.

Although, Encana as a company puts a high value on work/life balance, mant departments do not. Leaders often expect that you are available to work on evenings, weekends and vacations.

    Change Imminent

Drilling Engineer (Current Employee) Denver, CO

ProsGreat benefits, emphasis on work-life balance, surrounded by incredible competent and intelligent people, and lots of opportunity for lateral movement.

ConsNot much opportunity for vertical movement, bureaucracy, an abundance of duplication within the company. Everyone is convinced the new CEO, Doug Suttles, has what it takes to turn the company around.
