    Pros

Excellent people, great work life balance, good compensation and benefits.

    Cons

limited advancement opportunities; tends to be too process oriented but working to change that.

    Advice to Management

Continue to execute on the corporate strategy. The company is starting to hit its stride despite the price of oil.

    Pros

Great benefits and pay. Most of the people working for EnCana are good people. under the right team leads, great place to work. understand work life balance well.

    Cons

They tend to cut corners to save money. Preach a "health and safety culture" but only if it doesn't cost anything. poor initiative rollouts. I unfortunately had a deceitful team lead which caused most of my problems and had a tendency to hold his people back. Not the case in most areas.

    Pros

The team I was on was incredibly friendly and helpful to me, and I had meaningful work to do.
The 9/80 schedule was great to work with.
Upper management went out of their way to make sure I felt useful and at home here.

    Cons

Some other interns did half the work and still walked away with offers, which was a little frustrating.

    Pros

Encana really takes care of it's employees. The building is beautiful and amenities are top notch. Fridays off is always a good thing. I would have loved to continue working at Encana but I moved out of state.

    Cons

While I worked there, the were going through a significant reorganization so it was rather chaotic and somewhat stressful watching peers and managers being escorted out of the building as they were let go.

    Pros

    - Great benefits, especially the vacation
    - Team work as a whole was very good when people welcomed you in but... see cons for the other side
    - Training opportunities are some of the best I have seen in companies
    - Management changes got rid of a lot of issues still some room for major changes but Doug Suttles is the best thing that happened to the upper management
    - Always willing to try new things
    - Encourage creativity, stretch and reach for the best

    Cons

    - Autonomous area operations need to be removed, the strategy of 'run your own company' in each location led to so many differences that it was even difficult to know the safety rules at each area and sometimes within each area
    - Still room for improvement in the very upper ranks but what company doesn't leave something to be desired
    - Laid off but was treated right and understand the situation

    Advice to Management

Put responsibility for safety in the workers hands, you have good safety but it could be great safety with better programs such as Safe Start that put safety in the workers hands and not some corporate program with paperwork and processes to make safety records & reports look good. The cuts of existing VPs didn't go far enough. Previous ties to the old rank and file leave a lot of problem spots in the organization causing serious pain for those in the field trying to do the right things.

    Pros

401k match and retirement programs, Vacation time and Fridays off.

    Cons

Constant reorganizing, poor choices in management, leader's agendas are self-serving rather than for the benefit of the company. Long term incentives are not worth much.

    Pros

Every other Friday off is nice. New CEO is doing a good job. Several VPs make you wonder how they got to where they are. However, a lot of poor ones were shown the door.

    Cons

Decisions are made slowly. No real cons that I can think of unless you happen to report to an idiot.

    Advice to Management

Try to make sure the VP and Team Leads you select are truly qualifies.

    Pros

Encana has great pay and benefits! Hard work is highly rewarded. I've been promoted 4 times in the last 8 years. Encana has great vacation packages, every other Friday off, and free drinks and snacks for employees. I hope to spend the rest of my career at encana. Encana also contributes 13% to your 401k.

    Cons

While restructuring the company the Plano office was closed and 20% of the workforce was laid off. I'm confident our CEO has made our company lean and is restoring us back to greatness. The Denver office is current having some growing pains.

    Advice to Management

There tends to be lots of bureaucracy at times with only the higher ups having the decision making power. You hire the best of the best, trust them to have more decision power.
