    Pros

Fun staff and lots of cake, if you're into that. High turnover opens lots of positions.

    Cons

Vice President in charge of Client Administration very much of the offer-no-ongoing-guidance-but-ambush-you-in-annual-review mold. Even if "development opportunities" are corrected, review will still be poor because you "did not do MORE."

    Advice to Management

It would be nice to have the possibility of addressing "development opportunities" ahead of being ambushed in an annual review.

    Pros

Very social environment. Many long term employees. Excellent training program.

    Cons

Pay is not competitive. Understaffed, so long hours from staff to maintain high service.

    Advice to Management

Staff is stretched too thin and is not properly compensated.

    Pros

Never once have I been bored working at this company. The work can seem overwhelming at times, but I find this has pushed me and helped me grow. This is one of the better companies I've worked for. The president is conscious of employees' challenges at all levels and is a down to earth person. The benefits are good.

    Cons

-The company is part of Marsh & McLennan, which is a monster-sized insurance company. I find the culture is gradually becoming that of a big company because of the Marsh & McLennan influence.
-As mentioned, the work can seem overwhelming. Good time management skills are essential.

    Advice to Management

Keep your eyes and ears open to the needs of your employees. Sometimes employees need help but are afraid to ask for it.

    Pros

    great office space and systems

    Cons

Everyone is interested in your personal life rather than your achivements. Pay isnt that great - they need to change their management team. No growth

    Pros

Good safe job. You deal with brokers all across Canada. Encon generally has a very good perception in the marketplace which makes it easier when promoting their products.

    Cons

boring work and there is alot of it, they encourage underwriters to meet with broker; however, there is always a ton of work when you return to the office. Also, there isn't any incentive to meet brokers... no bonuses.

    Advice to Management

Bonus structure to promote incentive to write and retain business, also, bonuses for meeting with brokers, not just extra work for no extra money.

    Pros

just to receive a pay check

    Cons

managment is inmature, staff is very unprofessional, work loads are triple compared to the insurance industry around the city, little or no chance of advancement as people are hand picked for a job on length of employment but not based on competence. the Salary is low but most CSR roles are burden with work and are low paying. There is little opportunity to advance with formal training as there is no time or budget for this. Employees are nice but childish and this is due to the nature of the types of people who work here. Management cause most of the employees dissatisfaction.

    Advice to Management

Take management courses work openly with the staff, create better processes to stramline productivity. Allow the chance to work remotely. It will increase the amount of work being done..
