    Pros

Never once have I been bored working at this company. The work can seem overwhelming at times, but I find this has pushed me and helped me grow. This is one of the better companies I've worked for. The president is conscious of employees' challenges at all levels and is a down to earth person. The benefits are good.

    Cons

-The company is part of Marsh & McLennan, which is a monster-sized insurance company. I find the culture is gradually becoming that of a big company because of the Marsh & McLennan influence.
-As mentioned, the work can seem overwhelming. Good time management skills are essential.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep your eyes and ears open to the needs of your employees. Sometimes employees need help but are afraid to ask for it.

I worked at Encon as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

    competitive salaries, flexible start/end times

    Cons

HR practices are unethical, lots of internal politics, functional managers need to be more transparent, temps and contracts are treated differently despite the same workload as full time, underwriters lack respect for underwriting assistants.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

need for focus groups, and more employee opinion surveys.

I have been working at Encon

    Pros

Good safe job. You deal with brokers all across Canada. Encon generally has a very good perception in the marketplace which makes it easier when promoting their products.

    Cons

boring work and there is alot of it, they encourage underwriters to meet with broker; however, there is always a ton of work when you return to the office. Also, there isn't any incentive to meet brokers... no bonuses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bonus structure to promote incentive to write and retain business, also, bonuses for meeting with brokers, not just extra work for no extra money.

jail time is being employed here as a CSR

I have been working at Encon

    Pros

just to receive a pay check

    Cons

managment is inmature, staff is very unprofessional, work loads are triple compared to the insurance industry around the city, little or no chance of advancement as people are hand picked for a job on length of employment but not based on competence. the Salary is low but most CSR roles are burden with work and are low paying. There is little opportunity to advance with formal training as there is no time or budget for this. Employees are nice but childish and this is due to the nature of the types of people who work here. Management cause most of the employees dissatisfaction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take management courses work openly with the staff, create better processes to stramline productivity. Allow the chance to work remotely. It will increase the amount of work being done..
