    Pros

Very professional environment, pleasant facilities, challenging work, suburban campus, local management excellent, amazingly talented staff, good work-life balance options

    Cons

Uncertain future, heavy downsizing, underfunded programs, too lean

    Advice to Management

Build it back up to a portable power innovator, not a commodity seller. This is a powerhouse of innovation that HQ dismembered to finance acquisitions. You are wasting scientific brains that could make profits. Hoping that the split will allow this to happen.

I have been working at Energizer Holdings full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Before the “Big Split” it was scary with no direction. Ward Klein was driving the battery side into the ground. His only focus was to use the revenue from the battery side to grow and support the personal care side. This was causing household products (the battery side) to suffer. Now, “Post-Split”, there is a lot of focus to keeping cost low while building employee morale. I give big thanks to the new Plant Manager. She takes time to get to know you and doesn’t forget who you are. They are doing special events and celebrations to let people know they are wanted and appreciated.

    Cons

There is little growth for current employees. If you do not have a 4 year (or more) degree, it is hard to move up. Experience is not considered when seeking a promotion. Some of the older employees have an “I was here first” attitude or they are in the “good ol’ boys club” and they feel that they are entitled to get the promotions.

    Advice to Management

Keep raising morale of the employees. You are gaining back trust. When it comes to promoting someone, don’t always look at their education level. Experience should count as well. Get rid of the current FFA (Framework For Achievement). There are other programs that look at the colleagues work quality, experience, behavior, and knowledge. It is about time for a change in that field.

    Pros

Flexible work schedule, good work / life balance, good opportunity to work with colleagues and customers of all levels

    Cons

Low morale and disinterested atmosphere due to several years of company transformation and cut-backs (layoffs included). Building is mostly vacant, daily interaction with others is low, and frequent speculation about having building shutting down or moving.

I have been working at Energizer Holdings full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are none - company split from personal products as of July 1st. Company is going backwards instead of forward.

    Cons

Just announced that they are suspending WFH and Flextime on a regular basis. Employees have had this perk for the last several years and new management has the upper hand. Work/Life Balance is not one of their priorities anymore.

    Advice to Management

Morale is low as it is and all you do is take away more and more. Need to give current and future employees an incentive to work for a dying company.

I have been working at Energizer Holdings full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Exiting colleagues for the most part treated with respect, handling restructuring with a level of class, was a great place to work, future leaves uncertainty. New hires have tremendous opportunity to learn, gain experience and be very marketable to others as the culture is not healthy long term.

    Cons

Promote from within limited, multiple restructuring in the last 3 years, if business climate doesn't improve more is sure to come. High workloads, work/life balance is a challenge as competitive environment and focus on shareholders has led to a very lean operation. Leadership presence limited, stressful environment with pressure to meet stretch goals as an expectation.

    Advice to Management

Get back to a focus on colleagues, Morale is low, the culture/values at Sr. Leadership level may not have changed in their minds, however the workload/streamlining of operations has impacted colleagues views about the company, their commitment to be passionate, focused on a Keep Going Keep Challenging mentality that has been the core of the companies success.

I worked at Energizer Holdings part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some perks with free product coupons, wages are a bit better than usual by about 15% for type of work.

    Cons

Poorly managed, really unprofessional in how they handle their paying you-took over 6 weeks for my first check because they took that long to fix the issues with getting me set up in their payroll/timecard system. You are overworked and underpaid and when they need you to work more than 8 hours they tell you to lie on your paperwork and move the hours to the following day so they dont have to pay overtime yet this causes other issues so basically you lose out. Rather than pay milesage they will try to get you to carpool. Instead of doing resets you end up throwing alot of freight and hurting yourself.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention and audit how your managers are handling things out in the field with employees, dont expect your sales people to work 12 hour days and set unrealistic sales goals so that they sell in too much product which then gets returned end of season so that your field people get hurt trying to keep up. Pay attention to how many hours they really worked in a 24 hour period. Know whats going on in the field or dont be surprised when noone comes back the following year. I assumed Energizer would be an ethical company but its all about the bottom line and they do not care about their sales reps or merchandisers; at least in the market I was in.
