Former Employee – worked at Energy Resource Conservation Board full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Interesting and meaningful work, generally great team camaraderie, and some of the most technically competent and knowledgeable people in the oil and gas industry.
Excellent work/life balance. Stable and secure employment.
Cons – Senior management priorities seem scattered at times.
Total compensation program (notably base salary, incremental increases and bonuses) has fallen far behind same-industry employers.

Current Employee – been working at Energy Resource Conservation Board full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – The ERCB offers a large number of benefits. 2 flex days per month. 3 weeks starting vacation. Medical/dental/health benefits. Life/Learning/wellness plan.
Cons – It is very difficult to advance your career at the ERCB. In order to move ahead you will need to jump around to different sections. However if you remain loyal to a section, it will be difficult to advance your position.
Advice to Senior Management – Look for reasons to promote staff rather then finding reasons not to promote staff.
