Commuting distance from home to communities were quite far for most sales associates.

Pros

Best Builder/employer in Denver since starting as Park Homes in the late 80's. Having gone through 3 ownerships of the company, the team spirit and continuous efforts from everyone to do "the right thing" has been the mantra to keep us all reminded how much fun we had. The leadership was mindful of the inside talent and promoted from within.

Cons

When was the last time you read that there was no downside on working of a certain company? Can't thing of any!

Advice to Senior Management

Can't offer anygood advice since the Engle Homes no longer exists, (due to TOUSA filing chapter 11 in 2009). Too bad

Pros

Great product. Quality control was solid. High customer satisfaction ratings. Culture was professional. Good people, including management.

Cons

A financial mess. They were way to aggressive when making land purchases and or company acquisitions. They simply paid too much and they grew too fast.

Advice to Senior Management

Plan for the longterm. Short term financing decisions killed the company. I guess this means sr. management was simply too greedy.

Pros

Large builder in a relatively undersized industry which allows for market share once this industry rebuilds. The environment was loose but always remained professional. The benefits were with a top notch healthcare provider which is always comfortable. Engle encouraged communication and the managers were always accessible and provided honoest feedback. My salary compared to the industry was in the top 15% and many sales bonuses were issued. Engle provided each employee with a Blackberry and laptops, gas expenses for meetings. What stands out for me with in my tenure with Engle is professionalism that was employeed daily and the fact that they built a quality and top of the industry product.

Cons

To preface I was very satisfied with my expierence with Tousa d.b.a. Engle Homes but on the months preceeding their Chapter 11 filing the company was dishonest to customers, often asking me to lie to my clients. The markets pitfalls is a valid excuse of the companys financial problems but the way they handled the downturn was disrespectful. Cutting off construction funds and laying off entire offices in one day was a product of inexpierenced management that did not know how to stay afloat in a sinking market. If working in a sales capacity you are expected to run one community from entering to ending, if the community for one reason or another goes cold you can not move to another community that is selling, you are forced to sell just one.

Advice to Senior Management

Clean-up and get back on track, your blueprints were top in the industry which made for easy sales.
