I worked at Enphase Energy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

the company is fast growing, you can see many potential here, and the salary is good for the location of Petaluma

    Cons

Not like many bay area company that supply snack and fruit. The only free thing they supply is just cheap coke and coffee even no healthy juice like V8.

I worked at Enphase Energy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Open and transparent work space, team oriented, decent basic compensation. The company still tries to keep it social with quarterly fun Fridays and annual parties. Surrounded by very smart people, opportunities to learn something new every day. Great place to gain technology experience.

    Cons

Very little upward mobility, rules and mandates are made before allowing any input from contributors. The company was innovative, creative and fun when it was a startup with lots of opportunity to learn from others, but as it's grown to a public mid sized company, innovation has been replaced by politics and posturing, and a great lack of sharing of information. Salary and benefits are decent when hired, but increases are very formulated (don't expect anything big) and performance has little to do with compensation, which is very discouraging. Some departments are innovative and flexible, while others are very old school and rigid (for example related to work-life balance, open communication etc). Inspiring things are proclaimed in quarterly meetings, but not regularly disseminated. Company needs to improve on inter-department communications... often times our projects are delayed or squashed because they are not a priority of another group on which we are dependent, which is not communicated timely.

    Advice to Management

Time to get back to focusing on employee satisfaction, assuming retention is a value. Understood that as a company grows, it changes, but I think having a flood of employees leave with a negative experience would be something of concern.

    Pros

Great cause, being involved with a company with a great product that helps our environment.

    Cons

The senior management team very much has a group think mentality.

    Advice to Management

Not promoting from within is not going to promote a great deal of employee loyalty.

I worked at Enphase Energy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good compensation, fast-paced development environment, opportunity to design for a broad range of manufacturing processes, challenging design projects.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations, especially in terms of product cost. Project deadlines are set to impossibly short development cycles, and then keep getting extended once management realizes deadlines can't be met. Working with Chinese manufacturing partners can be frustrating, to say the least

    Advice to Management

Take engineers input when developing product development timelines.

I have been working at Enphase Energy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Collaborative culture, good work/life balance (especially compared to Silicon Valley norms - office is pretty much empty by 6.15pm), smart and committed people, nice age diversity (again, compared to SilVal where being over 35 makes you feel out of place), walks the talk re. the green focus of the company, technology leader.

    Cons

Struggling to find right balance between instituting processes and weighing teams down with too much process, Sometimes too many involved in each project, so over-collaboration can slow things down.

    Advice to Management

Rebalance some teams to add extra hands at lower levels so more experienced team members have the bandwidth to fly.

I have been working at Enphase Energy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the most dedicated passionate people to work with. Collaboration was encouraged although maybe less now that it is larger. Love the product and how it can change the world. If you have a strong manager this is a great place.

    Cons

High level of chaos, big division between management and the working people. Communication between departments and management to staff is poor. Focus is no longer on how the product can change the world and just on the bottom line.

    Advice to Management

Scale the chaos - plan ahead don't react, increase your interaction with the staff not just managers - walk the floor, senior staff doesn't seem to be in control of what is happening

I worked at Enphase Energy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Enphase Energy literally created the Micro-Inverter market and was able to do a successful IPO based on taking advantage of being first in the market.

    Cons

Management has no clue what they are doing when it comes to product development and putting a 25 year warranty on a product that will not last that long could be the downfall of this company as their field returns escalate over the next few years.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees and quit adding more Managers that have no clue what they are doing. They don't promote any employees but continually bring in more and more Managers therefore pushing the real workers lower down the totem pole.

    Rife with executive dysfunction

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Enphase Energy full-time

    Pros

There are some great rank and file personnel that carry the weight of the company in spite of poor leadership. And the company is located in a wonderful locale.

    Cons

A consistent lack of trust within Enphase stifles innovation and collaboration, delaying new product introduction. Look at the experience of the executives and ask if they have the competence to hold their current position, and you'll likely be able to pick out the key source of the dysfunction. Sadly, the potential for this company is severely threatened.

    Advice to Management

Surgically remove the source of consistent trauma to the team or market leadership will be forever lost.
