I worked at Ensco Offshore full-time

    Pros

Safety really is a top priority. Everyone is open to it and really what to do what is right. Working offshore all of your crew turns into a second family and they all look out for eachother.

    Cons

Other than the current oil prices affecting pay and the removal of some perks, there is a TON of training you have to go to while on your time off the rigs.

    Advice to Management

Keep the focus on safety going. It makes working offshore and being away from your family that much easier when you know you're not going to get killed.

    Advice to Management

Need to take their own advice when they ask employees to be loyal, they need to do the same towards their employees.

    Pros

International opportunities. Contact with executive management. It is amazing how hands-on and approachable executive management is. Company is bringing in new people to replace retiring workers.

    Cons

Office politics and pinching pennies. Lean organization structure. Management values employees with a finance background. Pay is lower than the industry standard because the compensation manager is clueless.

    Advice to Management

Quit managing the company like a start up business. Start using business tools and technology to improve efficiency and to prepare the company for the future.

    Pros

Decent salary, very good beneifts. Management let's you do your job and at least asks for your opinion before making decisions. Very good industry reputation.

    Cons

Sometimes sticks to policies/practices from the past - maybe does not change/adapt as quickly as some might think they should.
