Former Employee – worked at Entergy full-time for more than a year
Pros – none that I can think of.
Cons – rude, condescending managers that tried to fire everyone in my office as well as no opportunities for advancement.
Advice to Senior Management – Take a long walk off a short plank.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Entergy full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – The work is satisfying and everyone makes an impact. You are afforded the opportunity to learn and improve and can get plenty of help when you need it. The company is big on personnel safety, almost painfully so. There is plenty of room for advancement if you are willing to work hard and accept the responsibility. People are retiring left and right which creates openings for aspiring people.
Cons – There are major accountability issues. No one really seems to be held accountable for anything. Managers, supervisors, and individual contributors go to meetings late and unprepared without consequence. Bargaining unit employees are especially exempt from accountability. Completely useless employees with years of documented problems can't be touched as the company is afraid to make waves with the union. The lack of an accountability culture also means people tend to not own and fix many issues under their control, which is frustrating. Part of this is due to under-staffing. Staffing would probably be sufficient, but based on the amount of bureaucracy, it is hard to get work done which means we need more people. Finally, as with any utility, there are times when you are going to have to work nights and weekends.
Advice to Senior Management – Enforce an accountability culture at all levels. Reduce administrative burdens or hire more people to share the burdens.

Current Employee – been working at Entergy
Pros – While a relatively conservative company, many of the younger leaders are pushing for innovative ways to conduct business more effectively and efficiently.
Cons – It can be very frustrating in seeing projects through to fruition, mainly due to the layers and layers of bureaucracy and office politics that must be navigated. Also, the most qualified don't always get promoted to higher levels of management.
Advice to Senior Management – Need to get a better grasp on the importance of creating a more productive and open environment for younger employees as many of the employees are nearing retirement age.

Former Employee – worked at Entergy
Pros – Good people to work with, good balance between personal and professional life, good senior management, nice place if you get to live in New orleans/Houston!
Cons – like any workplace one has to play the internal game but it wasn't too bad. you get benefit if you are a local - may work in your favor!
Advice to Senior Management – overall great job, practicing diversity and equal opportunity for prmotions at all levels (specially lower, mid levels where senior management do not have direct control) will make it much better.

Former Employee – worked at Entergy
Pros – It may be considered to be one of the better employers in an area where there may be few other options with Fortune 500 companies.
Cons – Incompetent management. Healthcare with poor coverage including a $1000 deductable
Advice to Senior Management – Do not place sr. leaders into roles that they are not qualified by either work experience or degree to oversee.

Current Employee – been working at Entergy
Pros – Room to grow while staying within the same company. Experience in the utility industry. Training is provided to encourage career growth.
Cons – Poor health insurance and benefits. Incompetent middle management and failure of senior management to recognize the issue.
Advice to Senior Management – Entergy is generally a good place to work, however, management needs to open its eyes to the real issues of the company. The company will not be successful if middle management is unable to follow through on the desires of senior management.

Former Employee – worked at Entergy
Pros – I felt like Entergy enabled me to take on new challenges, and I feel like I contributed to the company. I learned so much while working there. They were more than willing to let me get out to the field which was a big plus.
Cons – Depending on where you live, the work locations aren't the best. Working in power generation means working at sites that are away from the city.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep it up. Everyone I met in upper management had been with the company for a long time and were experienced in their fields.

Current Employee – been working at Entergy
Pros – Salaries are high for this area. A clean and safe work enviroment with a heavy focus on personnal safety.
Cons – Stressful at times and if a Nuclear Unit trips offline it can mean long hours and call out. This is not an exciting or cutting edge high tech technical career path. Nuclear is a technically conservative business by necessity.
Advice to Senior Management – Hire more employees. We have lost a lot of skilled people through attrition and we are beginning to feel the effect, big time.
