I worked at Entergy full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

They used to be one of the best IT shop to work for, not anymore. They pay their employees well.

    Cons

IT has been outsourced for the past 14 years. The remaining IT staff are pencil pushers, admin type positions for the most part. They recently replaced Leidos (SAIC) with HCL. It looks like the goal is to offshore as many IT positions as possible to India, things are not looking good...
Very un-American move, wish leaders were more aware of their actions and had more love for their country and fellow Americans.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In-source IT back, it is the backbone of the company.

I have been working at Entergy full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, the alternate Friday off is an excellent benefit

    Cons

Too many levels of levels between entry level and management which can be discouraging to the millenial generation, who my choose to move on to other opportunities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow easier communication between employees and senior level management by hosting town hall style events with Senior Management

    Pros

NONE- Keep out of this LOSER COMPANY!

    Cons

LEO Denault the CEO has eliminated pensions for new employees, increased retiree MEDICAL preiums by 100%, closed Plants and lined his own pockets with huge bonuses, salary and benefits. After all- he has KIDS that need to go to IVY LEAGUE COLLEGES and become CEOs! Raises are non existent for individual contributors. Bonus was cut in half by Bill MOHL and the board. Yet they are giving tens on millions to States and other utilities in profits to buy silence and better relations. LEO's Motto- I GOT MINE- SCREW YOU!
Morale has never been lower and Leo Denault will destroy Entergy but enrich himself!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

FIRE LEO. Try to restore morale and quit lining the pockets of CEOs and executives! Leo admitted that he is just another FLUNKY BEANCOUNTER! WAY TOO MANY MEETINGS AND VPS ,DIRECTORS AND SR MANGERS who add NO Value and DO NOTHING!

THIS CAN BE an opportunity to restore Entergy to more productivity and profitability!

    Pros

Working at Entergy in the call center was enjoyable. The pay was great. I loved that team spirit was promoted. Safety was practiced and not just preached. Everyone got along with everyone.

    Cons

I did not like it when storms threatened near or far. You knew there'd be over time and if a hurricane came to our area some of the people would have to stay with the company instead of leaving with family. But it was all a part of the job so you got used to it while disliking it.

    Pros

I cannot think of any pros at the moment. Some employees have tremendous growth opportunities, but that is only if you are great at playing the office politics game.

    Cons

There are too many to list. But mainly the uncertainty of the organization, The employees are not sure if the company will be around much longer. The morale of the organization is at an all time low. The turnover in the HR department is soaring which is causing stress and triple workload for remaining employees. Bad leadership and line management is all over the company. Employees have no rights.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your managers to know how to manage people along with the processes that they manage.

    Pros

You work with a great bunch of guys, learn a lot about linewoirk itself and safety, and most of all the skills you learn will never leave you.

    Cons

Unless you like being away from home or being on call 24/7, and of course every company has those guys that nobody wants to be around.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When I worked there I was going through some personal problems. Management needs to learn to look for the signs. I resigned because I didn't have a choice but I also think my supervisor had it out for me.
