I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car as an intern

    Pros

The people you work with are great and very team oriented. There is a sense that everyone wants to help each other do well and facilitate upward advancement. Recent raise for those below area manager level so at least competitive salary also OT for management trainees and assistants. Very clear path for those motivated to sell and exhibit above and beyond customer service. Since you typically work every other Saturday morning you do get to flex in or out one day during the week for a half day.

    Cons

Little work-life balance. You're going to work between 48-55 hours each week with only seven days vacation your first year although it shoots up to 17 year 2. During summer hours in metropolitan areas, many days will be 7-7 with possibly no lunch break if your branch manager brings in lunch. Some offices are significantly more difficult to sell in than others so you may either benefit and move up quickly or suffer if at an insurance branch.

    Advice to Management

Although the pay bump will attract a few more quality candidates. You will continue to lose out on more qualified people because the hours are insane and nobody wants to work Saturdays or even Sunday at some branches. I understand you need that flexibility for customers but bring on more people part time so weekend hours are much more limited.

    Pros

There are no good reasons to work here.

    Cons

Low pay, 7-day work weeks, 12-hour workdays. Managers power-trip and gossip like school girls. My branch wouldn't even tell us rental rates. They just told us to charge as much as we could make the customer pay. Miserable experience.

    Advice to Management

12-hour days renting cars, getting screamed at by over-zealous branch managers who were desperate to get the highest numbers so they won't get fired. I should have known better when the HR Director who hired me admitted he was constantly exhausted from being overworked and a regional told us during orientation that if we were in a relationship now, we wouldn't be soon. It's car rentals! You're not curing cancer or ending war and famine! Employees deserve to have a life away from the rental counter.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

No ESQi. No customers, no phone ringing uncontrollably, no pick ups and drop offs Corporate schedule If you need a tool, buy a tool If you can't finish the job by the end of the day, go home and come back 40 hours a week MEANS 40 hours a week Never work a Saturday or Sunday. Ever. Work (4) 10 hour days means 52 days off a year Managers are great. Even though they still sleep in ERAC pajamas, they're great to work with. It's the best job I've ever had. Looking back over my reviews when I was an MT or Assistant Truck Manager I can't believe it's the same company.

    Cons

If you don't like to drive, you're in the wrong place. But that's it.

    Advice to Management

    Don't change a thing!
