Former Employee - Branch Rental Manager in Cincinnati, OH

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Competitive sales model against your peers, driving any car home on your lot as a branch manager, PERK! Hilarious situations occur daily so you're NEVER bored - customers are insane! Marketing to large corporations allows you to network. Meeting interesting people. Ability to manage and operate your own fleet of cars and staff as manager. Used to be more fair regarding promotions- if you were awesome at sales and worked your butt off, you could move up. Not anymore!

    Cons

Poor outdated "technology"- still operate on DOS, no caller ID. Out of touch unsupportive upper management that don't have a clue what's going on in the trenches. 65 hour work weeks as a manager=no life. Operate on as little staff as possible yet expect you to work miracles with customers. Constantly changing rules and expectations, based on winning awards for their area. Employees are just a number, with little support or empathy. Promotions are based on politics of popularity, not skill. Customer ALWAYS right, which comes out of managers bottom line. Inner city branches have advantage. Company making billions and so cheap they won't throw a holiday party or give gifts or update systems in order to run a real efficient business. Huge salary discrepancy between tenured managed who suck at their jobs and new managers who are killin it in all areas. I'm talking $50k a year differences here! Fired a lot of managers on ridiculous grounds, could tell corporate was just on a witch hunt for certain people while other managers had been around for 8+ years and were horrible and got to stay. Enterprise sucks you dry, eats your soul, and tosses you in the trash without a second thought, leaving a burnt out shell of a human being.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more supportive and understanding! Actually invest in your employees who are busting their butts 50+ hours a week to make you money. Reward hard work and top performers who can sell ANYWHERE, not just inner city gimme branches. Be more consistent with expectations, rules, follow through, discipline, promotional criteria and branch comparison. For gods sake! develop a way for employees to have a work life balance. Staff your branches and update your technology. It's 2013, DOS is from the 80s. Jack Taylor needs to get out of his ivory tower and share some of that $6 billion he has with his slaves.

Current Employee - Car Technician in Cincinnati, OH

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car part-time for more than a year

    Pros

I am a car prep and I get to drive a lot of different cars

    Cons

Cleaning the cars off site and not enough workers to do the work. I need to be paid for the work I do and I am not always able to clock in, because the clock does not always work and my supervisor does not help me with this and I am cheated out of money on my paychecks. This has happened two times on my last paycheck and several times in the past

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure employees get paid for the work they do. I do not think I should have to use my own cell phone for the company unless they help me pay the bill.

    Pros

Experience to work with people your age

    Cons

Everything about the company screams "PYRAMID SCAM"
Good luck paying for a wrecked car out of your pocket if the customer takes the insurance if you're a manager.

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great training program for outside sales or insurance career. Take that liberal arts degree and get a job with it that will at least pay your rent

    Cons

LONG hours once you become a manager. Pay not worth the work load. They sell you on an outside sales job but there really aren't any outside sales or marketting opportunities until you at least get to the assistant manager level. Most of an MT's day will be spent at the counter renting cars to the general public.
