Pros
great hands on experience
knowledgeable management
get to learn about sales and management
Cons
seems like there is not much upward mobility
long hours 7 a.m. until 6 pm. with no overtime pay
need to be a top seller to move up in company
Advice to Senior Management
Try not to get employee's hopes up with how fast they will move up in the company. One of the employees was a management trainee for about four years and because he couldn't sell the insurance he didn't advance in his career
Pros
Earn a great deal of experience, you control you own career path, work with a lot of great people your own age
Cons
No work life balance, ruin a lot of expensive clothes when washing cars, come in early and leave extremely late
Advice to Senior Management
make a more flexible schedule to create a more work/life balance, promote based on qualfications, not who is "in" the clique
Pros
Enterprise truly is a fun and friendly place to work. Management takes care of its employees and looks out for their best interest. The company is only as strong as their employees. You are able to move up quickly and so does your salary. There are numerous events hosted by the company such as happy hours, galas, sporting events, bbqs, etc.. If you are outgoing, sales and service oriented, personally motivated, and want to learn to run a business this career is for you!
Cons
I wouldn't state it as a con buy you have to ave a personal drive to succeed at erac. Once you get past being a MT, you really start to understand how the business works and learn how to manage people. The first year is "the toughest" and only the strong survive.
Pros
The people
Discounts
The room for growth
Rewards for hard work
Cons
horrible work life balance
the pay
the hours
Advice to Senior Management
Change in the hours and working on the work life balance
Pros
Renatl Discounts Renatl Discounts Renatl Discounts Renatl Discounts
Cons
Customer service Customer service Customer service Customer service Customer service Customer service
Pros
Many advancement opportunities at first
Only promotes from within
Good real life work experience
Learn to run your own business
Cons
Work way too many hours for the salary they pay
They expect way too much sometimes for things out of your controll
Their customer service scores are statistically inaccurate due to a very small sample size, yet people lose jobs over their scores.
Advice to Senior Management
Get a better system to evaluate customer service scores.
Stop shoving "ethics" in our face and turn your back when unethical behavior happens
Pros
Great training. Great company to start off in sales. If you can excel with them then many actually PAYING companies will be looking your way. Good benefits starting off. Good way to learn ins/outs of running a business.
Cons
Enterprise is a pyramid scheme. The thousands of low payed MT's are making upper management all the money by competing with their sales in order to be promoted, with the promotions having major drawback for what little more pay it is, PLUS being held accountable by upper management and having to hear from them if something goes wrong. They promise the world if you stick it out long enough with them, but in the end it is not worth the life outside of it that you miss for slaving at a branch for them.
48 hour MINIMUM work week. Horrid pay that's barely livable on. You're essentially giving them a free day of labor. Studying to take the tests to be promotable are some of the most stressful times of your life. To be promoted to an assistant branch manager you, depending on how spaced out your region is, you will most likely have to work at a branch an hour or more away from your home for only maybe a $5000 yearly raise. And that's IF your new branch makes money, bc they LOWER your salary when you do that and give your commission bonuses. Then you have to make the decision to move for $5000 more a year, or commute for hours upon hours a week in your own car. This is why I am looking at other careers. Also, customers treat you as if you are flipping burgers at McDonalds, instead of someone who went to college (degree is mandatory) who is trying to make something of themselves within the company. I feel like when I tell others where I work they react as if I told them I was a convenience store cashier with a B.A.
Advice to Senior Management
Well unless Andy Taylor is reading this, then it's just wasted words. But, increase starting pay for MTs by $5000 more, and lower the work week to 44 hours at the most.
Pros
Career advancement, as long as you don't mind the type of business you are doing. Great experience, and a great first job. If you really dedicate yourself, and learn to put up with garbage all day, you CAN find yourself in a great situation after 3-4 years.
Cons
Car rental is not a sexy career. You deal with the general public, which can be a very difficult task sometimes. You work about 50 hours a week, which leaves you very little free time. Low pay starting out.
Advice to Senior Management
Flex schedules. Pay what you pay for 50 hours for 40 hours a week. This will retain more employees, and keep everyone energized about their jobs.
Pros
Teaches you to work hard, sell to different customers, think on your feet, work with others
Cons
High turnover, low pay, 48-52/hrs a week, sat/sun, very stressful
Advice to Senior Management
Higher commission percentages to asst managers who do bulk of work, more time off to not but out employees
Pros
Great recognition if a top salesperson
Great treatment if a top salesperson
After a year you accrue PTO decently fast
The people you work with are pretty cool
The common ground with everyone is hating Enterprise...
Cons
Terrible pay
Terrible 'management' (most/ALL upper management has ONLY worked at Enterprise)
After you 'grill' recognition is absent
Assistant manager is the worst/most stressful with TERRIBLE pay
Your happiness depends on your manager
Extreme hours 50+
The only way to make a comfortable living is to work 55-60 hours (OT pay)
Customers treat you like ****
Very wearing on your personal life
You make "commission" but it's miniscule
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in technology
Invest in employee retention
Care about your employees
Give some of your profits back to your Assistants/MT's
