I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great corporate structure. Most of the people you work with are great as well. If you do what is set in front of you you will get promoted.

    Cons

NO WORK LIFE BALANCE. As a manager you get your pay "bumped" and work more hours. 70 hour weeks are a regular occurrence. Not having what you need to operate your business successfully also a regular hurdle to overcome. Management is constantly shoving corporate rhetoric down your throat, while blatantly doing the opposite. So relieved to be finished with car rental.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Looks great on your resume. Learn a lot about how to run a business, from customer service to accounts payable etc.

    Cons

Hours.. 13 hour days, 6 days a week, no work life balance [like they harp about when you first get hired] The people who get promoted only know how to sell the products, not how to manage the branch [80% of the time] which causes hard growing pains, confusion/disorganization and, a lost of trust within the branch and company.

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate how you promote employees. Your best employees are stuck as MTs and MAs, and will eventually quit because you keep promoting the wrong people based on sales [which half the time they are unethical sales to begin with].

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Customer service training and good pay.

    Cons

Long hours, no personal life. Micromanagement and a lack of promotional opportunities. Understaffed.

    Advice to Management

Promote people who have earned it, not salesmen. Get comfortable with having more cars than reservations. Stop living off a 30 year old business plan.

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay was great if you could make an impact on the bottom line. Additionally, the training was very valuable. They let you learn on the job.

    Cons

The job required a lot of time. Frequently you and your teams would be working very early and very late to solve logistics problems.

    Advice to Management

I think the management staff knows what they are doing. I would encourage them to always look for new opportunities to push their people's careers forward.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Training, team environment, opportunity to learn a business, promote from within culture.

    Cons

Occasionally washing cars, but totally not a big deal, everyone helps and we have car prep employees who do the majority of the car wash for us.

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very busy most days. Not much idle time. Time goes by quickly when lots of customers are coming in. Worked 40 hours a week at a minimum. Received overtime pay when I worked over 40 hours which occurred on a regular basis. Everyone is pretty fun to work with. Managers always have games going on and the winners get gift cards etc. Learn how to deal with a variety of customers. Meet with managers weekly to go over performance and look for areas in which you can improve. Gives you great experience in a corporate environment. Learn how to sell and deal with difficult customers. Prepares you to work in a variety of work environments in the future. If you do well, lots of opportunity in the company.

    Cons

Extremely repetitive. Customers are very hard to deal with some days. DIA branch can get very busy and cars that people reserved are not always available. Overly aggressive with upgrades and insurance. Be aware that all the managers will take notice if you are not pushing upgrades and insurance. If your sales numbers are not great and do not improve, consider another line of work. Anticipate working long days and becoming very exhausted and worn out. Come home, eat dinner, and go to bed.

    Advice to Management

Allow the interns to work in the return lanes. Place interns in different departments throughout the company for a period longer than 1 day (HR, accounting/finance). Tone down overly aggressive sales practices and techniques. Numerous customers complained of pushy, aggressive, and dishonest sales associates. The white shirt requirement is outdated and needs to be changed.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

good benefits, great place to meet new friends. Paid maternity leave with a really great 'phase-back' program. Lots of departments, therefore there is room to move up, and they typically prefer to promote from within.

    Cons

In rental, you are expected to work 50+ hours/week and get paid in peanuts. You're lucky to have two days off a week. In claims department, you are expected to do 50+ hours of work in 40 hours so they don't have to pay you overtime. No bonuses EVER. They say that they 'pay competitive salaries' which is completely false- they pay significantly less than similar positions at other companies.

    Advice to Management

Pay your people more!!! Staff appropriately!! Pay bonuses and stop overloading people in the claims department.
