Pros
Young workforce that is generally fun to work with. Usually good about being able to get days off for vacation or other reasons.
Cons
They work you to death. 50 plus hour weeks are the norm. You wash cars in your suit whether it is cold, hot, or in between. You don't get breaks other than an hour for lunch. If you have a bad sales month, upper management will freeze you out; meaning they don't talk to you as much and generally just don't care about you.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't treat your employees like slaves. Compensate them fairly. Hire more car preps. Employees in suits washing cars is ridiculous.
Pros
Keeps you busy if you hate being at home and do not enjoy social activities.
Cons
After you gain a hard earned 4 year degree, they train you to do anything in high heels and an expensive suit including wash a car, inflate tires and run through the rain. Visiting questionable areas of your city to pick up questionable people whom you are alone in the car with for up to 45 minutes. Company does not seem to value intelligence, instead appearing to promote those with the most criminal versatility/sociopathic tendencies.
Advice to Senior Management
If Enterprise would continue to require 4 year degrees and call it's program "Management Training", I would suggest more appropriate ways of hiring including behavioral and IQ tests as well as more actual outside sales training rather then focusing on pushing insurance.
Pros
It is an easy place to get a job. Right out of college I was looking for work and Enterprise was the first to give out an interview. If you like cars, it can be a fun place to be around, especially when you get a couple luxury cars on the lot. Of course you get to drive them but don't get in an accident or it will be your job (so they said).
Cons
You have to wash cars in your suit. This become very irritating during the summer months when it is 100 degrees outside.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay your employees a lot more and you will retain employees that will help improve your reputation.
Pros
You will learn about running a business. Good place to start. I've been with the company for over 5 years. Still with them but looking for something else. I can say that I do not regret one day working for Enterprise. I've learned a lot, and got to know some good people. My biggest regret is not taking some other offers I had in the past. This company is very much a "what have you done for me lately" company.
Cons
It's a very "what have you done for me lately company." As long as you are performing you will be liked. But if you even have one bad month you will be a castaway. The tolerance or forgiveness is very minimal. Pressure to perform is great, if you don't you may have to look for another job. Work life balance is almost non.
Advice to Senior Management
Stand behind your people. Fair promotions, like many other industries, the best seller may not be the best leader.
Longer period for training. There are managers out there with less than six months experience with the company.
