I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

You learn to be a leader and to take accountability for your mistakes. You get paid $10 an hour and you'll work over 42 hours a week. It's competitive as well. If you do good, you'll have a better chance of being offered a full time job, when the time comes.

    Cons

If you arent a people person this could NOT be the job for you. If you've worked cst service then you'll be fine.

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I met many lifetime friends and mentors at Enterprise. I've never worked harder in my life and I feel it gave me a crash course in working in the real world for life.

    Cons

Compensation was low for my performance. Very micromanaged. I felt like a small fish in a big pond. Hours were set regardless of whether my work was done or not. Very little autonomy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to all levels of employees, add more true sales training to your program, not just customer service training.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great training to launch you into your REAL career. Great networking.

    Cons

Long hours, especially once you go to the airport.
Unrealistic timeframe of promotions and salaries. Upper management becomes complacent with making 150k a year, which took them 8+ years to get to that point.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop worrying about growth so much and your own commission checks and start taking care of yor employees again. Go back to what Jack Taylor implemented.

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

-Decent (right out of college) pay, in NY
-Training during your first few months was great for getting out of the branch with a full day's pay & free food.
-If cars are your thing, you'll be seeing a lot of them
    - low retention within the company, so tons of upward movement. Be careful since it is heavily based on politics and who knows who.

    Cons

-55+ hours a week, especially in the summer, minimum 12 hour shifts
    -Dirty, filthy work environment
    - Full business professional attire to rent cars -___- it's almost embarrassing
    - Managers force feed you tactics to sell "protection" and anything else to beat customers over the head. Again, if that's your thing - go for it.
    - Its a hamster wheel... You're saying the same phrases & questions all day, customer after customer. A manager will approach you about being off of the 'word path'

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Loosen up a bit with the conservative nonsense. If employees have to be in a suit all day at least give them the freedom to engage with customers how they choose.

Former Employee - Intern in Portland, OR

    I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car

    Pros

Learned how to diffuse uncomfortable situations between customer and co-woker.
Learned how to be a part of a team and work towards a goal, together.
Good after hours T&E / team building exercise.
    GREAT training program.
    GREAT sales training.
Great manager who really care about your personal development.
    Great managerial reviewing system.

    Cons

As an intern or management trainee (essentially the exact same thing) you are the backbone of Enterprises' operation. You are the face of the company to every customer who you interact with. You will work long hours, you will be forced to deal with horrible customers and you will be slightly under appreciated by your MT peers. As an intern you will write more tickets than anyone in your branch. At times, you may even find your peers "ticket dodging" hoping that since you're the intern, you'll pick up the slack.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

After about a month on the job as an intern, there is virtually no difference between the job an intern does and the job a management trainee does. Only catch is the intern is payed considerably less. I do appreciate the experience and training I was given at Enterprise, but I felt undervalued compared against my peers who were paid more than me for doing the same job.
