Good job if your willing to work hard, make sacrifices and give it your all.

Account Executive (Current Employee)
Saint Louis, MO

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than 10 years

ProsGreat pay depending on how hard you work.
Great vacation time
lots of opportunity, again if you put in the effort

Consqualifications for promotion are unrealistic
if your in sales, managers and other employees will stab you in the back, then be your best friend the next day
to many offices that feast from the same table
some managers are not in positions they should be and the problem is ignored causing the staff and branches to suffer

Great place to learn about business

Branch Rental Manager (Former Employee)
Saint Louis, MO

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than 5 years

ProsThis is a business where you get to work with great people in a fun sales driven atmosphere. Everyone in the organization starts in the same management training program up to the current CEO. Rapid advancement for top performers within first few years. Sales and customer service are the main a focus within the organization as they should be.

ConsAs with owning or operating any business you are required to work extremely long hours at times. This ultimately effects your work life balance especially with having children who are involved in sports. Compensation seems to come later in your career as there are large gaps between levels in the company.

Politics

Branch Rental Manager (Former Employee)
Saint Louis, MO

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than 8 years

ProsSales, coworkers are pretty cool for the most part, experience running a business, and a true test of how well you can do in the business world

ConsFavoritism, upper management runs in a clique and fraternizes, poor leadership, bottleneck opportunities, no work life balance, and good luck if you do what is right and go against the flow

Advice to Senior ManagementRetire. Make room for employees that have a better grasp of how the real world works. Live your founding values or change them. Every good thing comes to an end

Lack of ethics - founding values have been abandoned.

Corporate (Former Employee)
Clayton, MO

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than 10 years

ProsCompensation at Executive level. High likelihood that public offering will be implemented soon. Fleet Management is growing and pays well.

ConsMission and Values have no meaning on day to day basis. Opportunity in rental is dead and "the dream" is unrealistic. Dictatorial senior leaders.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat employees with respect and dignity as Jack Taylor did. Face the reality that EHI employees sue (and win) at an alarmingly high rate. Tens of millions each year paid out - wake up.

Friendly environment where everyone supports your growth and success

Software Engineer (Current Employee)
Saint Louis, MO

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than a year

Pros40 hour work weeks, no overtime. Technical training is provided in all areas critical to performing the job at a high level, you are not expected to know too much coming in, but just expected to be able to learn. They will provide you with the tools and opportunities to do just that. Colleagues are experience (most of them here, as so many people have stayed here for more than 10 years) and willing to help. It's a positive culture where you take your strengths and interests, and through good communication with management, to be what you do everyday. They want you to excel at what you're good at and what you want to pursue. It's really a great place to work, particular a great place to start your career.

ConsThe corporate office has a conservative dress-code (suit and tie). Some of the development platforms used are a generation or two behind (for example Struts2 is the most widely used web application development framework).

Great Place to get your foot in the door

Management Trainee (Current Employee)
Saint Louis, MO

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than a year

ProsThe real upside to the management trainee program is that it gives anyone out of college a awesome first job. They gain valuable experience in sales, marketing, management, and customer service. Tools that are all very useful at any other company

ConsThey work you waaaay to hard for how much you make. Plus they start you out hourly and your incentive is to work overtime so you can actually make some real money. The problem is they won't let you work over 49.5 hrs while your still a MT. But once your an assistant you might as well be their slave because you can easily be logging 55+ hrs a week, no lunch, and have to work every other saturday.

Advice to Senior ManagementDecrease the longer hours or offer better pay
