I have been working at Enthone full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Focused energetic company, lean manufacturing, challenging fast-paced work environment and decent margins on product catalog. Benefits are excellent but costly, the workforce tries hard and generally works well together to accomplish goals.

    Cons

Lack of management support, lack of cohesive structure, under-staffed, and no room for error. The satellite facilities receive no support from upper management and the upper management mostly has no idea what goes on in the facilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire better management and retool job and management directives

    I worked at Enthone

    Pros

Global capability, very solid semiconductor market position, leaders in six sigma capability, sales training system

    Cons

Underfunded R&D for a technology company, poor rating on R&D project funding and overall effectiveness due to too many projects and too few R&D resources, short term vision of management - lots of high level turnover, overly complicated operating systems to make any changes

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase R&D spend and commit to improving NPD effectiveness, manage for the long term, not only to the quarter and year end numbers

I have been working at Enthone full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

-Interesting portfolio of products, diversified across different market segments.
    -Renewed focus on quality.
-Small company where you will know most employees and their responsibilities.
    -Good benefits.

    Cons

-Increased personnel rotation in middle-upper management which results in confusing strategies.
-Lack of focus on one particular strength; trying to be everything to everyone.
-Prominent short term vision, management planing one to two months ahead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on your strengths and those of your products. Limit or avoid rotation and favor talent retention. Lastly, break from short term planing and lay out strategies that afford you to think three to six months in advance.

I have been working at Enthone full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Pay is decent benefits are so so and you get a car allowance but the sales tools are horrible .

    Cons

Horrible work environment no plans or marketing for future and very toxic and de-motivating culture and management insist on stick vs carrot

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work to consolidate marketing efforts and focus goals on the region. Use team building approach and focus on the culture. People are unhappy because they are treated as robots there is no team work and the management focus on using the stick vs carrots. It's difficult to perform for a company 13 hours a day with no support and personal growth and team atmosphere

I have been working at Enthone full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Benefits - Health care, 401K.

    Cons

Low annual Pay across the board. Way, way, way ,way too lean of a company. Culture needs improvement. Lack of Leadership and strategy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to grow, you needed to hire more people yesterday. Low wages will not attract the talent you desire. Take a good look at your company, and be realistic....if you have read Good to Great, then you will realize Enthone is in a doom loop.

"A Broken Company" - VP Americas (not me)

I have been working at Enthone full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

-High visibility, if you're in Orange or West Haven. Otherwise no.
-The benefits are excellent. Nop notch actually. No complaints here
-Lean staffing is a pro and a con; there is very little redundancy... your job is secure if no one else can do it
-Supplies mature technologies to a generally loyal customer base
-Talent is rewarded with gift certificates to shitty restaurants

    Cons

-Opportunity for advancement is limited. The company is run WAY too lean. People aren't promoted so much as someone leaves and that job gets dumped on someone else. Years of this has led to too many people spread way too thin, and quality begins (began?) to suffer.
-Management/VP positions don't come from within... For some reason spending 5 years at a competitor makes you infinitely more valuable than spending 20 years at Enthone
-They'd rather "fix" a problem that CAN and SHOULD be solved by, say, hiring five $30k/yr rank and file employees.... by hiring, say, one $150k/yr manager/director/VP.
-This is a company with major units focused on fading/heavily regulated industries. Slowing demand is never good for business, especially when you respond by increasing prices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This review might sound fairly scathing, but it isn't as though I dislike working here. Theres a lot that needs fixing but at the same time lots of potential, and I hope to stay on long enough to see this company succeed, and to be a part of that success. There have been a lot of good changes recently that I really hope get Enthone back on track to being a leader in the industry, and a more well-rounded and balanced entity making quality products. As much as running a business is literally only about making money, fostering the GROWTH and happiness and prosperity of your current employees pays dividends that no middle manager poached from Atotech or Macdermid will be able to wring out of an overworked temp. I hope this helps.
