    Pros

Very nice people and cutting edge technology. People treat each other with respect. You can learn a lot of stuff. Fast paced schedules. Most people are highly motivated. Good pay and benefits.

    Cons

Bad decisions from upper management and marketting/sales hurt this company. It used to be great!

  2. Engineering staff is pleasant to work with. Management is secretive, incompetent, foolish.

    Pros

    Pay and benefits seem good.
Most people are friendly and good to work with.
    Technology is moderately cutting edge.

    Cons

CEO makes terrible decisions with regard to strategy, acquisitions, partnerships.
Blew lead in MoCA chipset market.
Being purchased by MaxLinear, maximum uncertainty has ensued.

    Advice to Management

Quit and get a job in either the food service or clerical industries.

    Pros

People worked well together to reach the main goals. Great, friendly and helpful employees.

    Cons

Too many layoffs of individual workers that had the knowledge of the products, never the Executives. Too many Executives. They never seemed to higher the Contractors/Temps so as not to have to include them as a head count. However, they would keep them on long term (no benefits). Disappointing.

    Advice to Management

Executives need to be seen more and interact with the employees rather than sit in their offices. They need to hang onto the people that are the high achievers. Temps/Contractors that are high achievers and hard workers that help meet the company goals need to be hired on as full time employees with benefits.

    Pros

Great middle management. Great work life balance. Coworkers are awesome.

    Cons

Old CEO was a moron. New one seems a lot better. Hopefully he can right the ship. Recent layoffs and decimation of an entire product line were needed to return to profitability. Hopefully entropic can reemerge from the ashes.

    Advice to Management

Keep ted around, we can rally around him. Stop the bleeding. You are losing too much talent and the holes are starting to show.

    Pros

Entropic is going through difficult but promising changes. They have refocused their strategy on their core MoCA devices where they have a long history of success. Entropic has the people and technology to execute and return to profitability.

    Cons

Employee moral is still low after recent layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to keep employees up to date on strategic decisions to rally and focus the remaining engineers.

    Pros

Good work-life balance, I was generally treated very well. The job was challenging and rewarding technically; plenty of problems to solve and good camaraderie amongst fellow engineers.

    Cons

Besides the usual distractions of things like performance reviews (What are my goals for the next year? Making stuff work and shipping it to customers, doggone it! What are *your* goals?), it seems that the management team is weak and indecisive, always operating in crisis mode despite yearly Strategic Long Range Planning junkets.

    Advice to Management

Everything starts at the top. The culture and ethics are an extension of the CEO and his executive staff. Blame and histrionics are not the way to motivate people to improve or take ownership of problems.

  8. Cutting edge engineering projects, significant automony and responsibility, but future uncertain at this time

    Pros

The projects are interesting and varied and the people around me are great to work with. I have learned alot and really enjoy my co-workers.

    Cons

Not sure where the company is heading right now; hopefully concerns about job stability will pass. Because projects are staffed leanly, team members are given significant responsibility and opportunities early on, but this also means that it sometimes feels like a sweatshop with deadlines that are difficult to meet.

  9. STB business is doing bad. They may close STB business going ahead. Either shift to MoCA group or leave the company.
