I have been working at Envoy Airlines part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Free domestic flights for yourself and travel companion; buddy passes are cool; not having to work long hours; experience working in the airline industry

    Cons

Never received proper training for ticket counter as a new hire. It was not fair because it is like we are being set up for failure. If you want to get your foot in the door and just get airline experience and flight benefits then it's fine, but I would not suggest staying long term because the company is doing cut backs at stations all over the country. I do not see the company being around in 10 years, especially since American Airlines is trying to distant itself from Envoy. Morale at work is pretty low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are so many managers and communication is nonexistent; my advice is to collaborate and get workers to work as a team.

I have been working at Envoy Airlines

    Pros

Lots of down time and the work is easy to learn and perform. Also the flight benefits are fantastic for traveling.

    Cons

The pay is not very good and it takes a long time to get any kind of raise. Work performance is rarely commended or even evaluated. Management is not very supportive or attentive. The union is not proactive in representation. Mentoring for advancement within the company is non existent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dont let the day to day operations take priority over passenger service and consideration. When promoting employees, do not just try to fill a position; seek out those who are passionate and driven. Mentoring is not existent.

I have been working at Envoy Airlines part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

As a young, energetic worker, I really appreciated all the learning opportunities and constant challenges of working for a regional air carrier. Often, Envoy operated stations have cross-trained employees, which means we're responsible for integrating and understanding several different complex systems for loading, unloading, boarding, deplaning, ticketing, reservations, gate, baggage mishandling, ramp operations, security compliance, etc Its fun and exciting to be so challenged. I enjoy working with people and most people are interesting and cool and appreciate your hard work!

Flight benefits are clearly the best thing about the job (if you can manage to get enough off time and have saved enough money to take advantage of them)

    Cons

Sometimes customers are unbelievably ignorant and rude. Some employees do a lot more than others. The ones who try hard usually get burdened with all of the responsibility and it can become overwhelming.. can't get enough time off to take vacations and use flight benefits, and if you do find the time, you probably don't have enough money, because...
THE PAY IS STUPID FOR THE AMOUNT OF RESPONSIBILITY AND WORK INVOLVED. Mcdonalds employees make more than me, and I'm responsible for several computer systems covering 4 different airlines (American, US Air, Envoy, Express Jet) and for maintaining security, weight and balance of each aircraft, just to start with. We certainly deserve at least a living wage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your employees are your lifeblood, pay us more and I PROMISE it'll be worth it. People will work harder, flights will operate more efficiently and the stockholders will be happy.

    Cons

Being employed and punching in everyday. TWU extorting you Management, absolute decline in morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When are you going to finally issue us our WARN letters? Here's some advice want to get rid of the rest of us high timers? Consider another buy out, it would be the merciful thing to do.

    Pros

Some good people to work with and plenty of overtime if you want it

    Cons

Weak, inept, management. Safety issues, OSHA violations, weak OJT, discrimination, and safety violations which management seems to pay little attention to. Very low pay

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find new management that can run the station instead of running the operation into the ground. Stop lying to your employees

Flight benefits that are getting worse. Standby is impossible with how full flights are now a days
