I worked at Epicor Software full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

This is a big enough organization to offer opportunities for growth. Very fast paced and high energy. Epicor, formerly NSB and formerly STS, is a great local employer for West-Island residents. The offices are nice. The atrium/cafeteria is gorgeous. Parking is easy.

    Cons

Clients are stressed. Retail is tough. So often stressful place to work. And difficult to make clients happy. There have been a lot of changes in the Pointe-Claire offices since NSB became STS. A lot of lay offs so many of the people who have been there a long time are "tired".

I worked at Epicor Software full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

good benefits, good salary, good referral program, onsite caf,

    Cons

Unqualified people without integrity or ethics being promoted to management positions. too much restructuring and layoffs. Management tends to play favors with employees. no ethics when recruiting or terminating employees. little respect towards employees. everything is about billable hours, and it's the only way to qualify for a big bonus at the end of the year. every minute needs to be accounted for and so most times your billing clients inaccurately and management encourages this so they can make their target and get their big year end bonuses too.

Employees overloaded with work, new employees expected to catch on without proper training.

Expected to work more than 40 hours a week (close to 50-60 hours) and not paid for overtime. training on topics set outside of normal work hours so that you're giving more hours to the company, which are not billable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

promote qualified people with ethics and integrity to management positions.
if a team lead or manager is missing for several weeks or months, reconsider how you perform evaluations and who you rely on for information. some employees are jealous and dont like to see newer employees perform better than them.

I worked at Epicor Software full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The people at Epicor are great. There are certain departments that are well run but others that are a disaster. The cafteria area is nice and the building is generally in good shape and clean. Location is good if you live in the West-Island already (for Montreal office). Benefits package is pretty good.

    Cons

-Avoid any job in the Professional services department. They want you to work free overtime every week. They grade all their employees based on the billable work they do - which is out of the employees control.
-Limited flexibility and the company's work-life balance philosophy is regressing.
-Company is not on the cutting edge of technology. Many products still run on old languages and they are forced to maintain them.
-A lot of employees have been there for many years which means advancing for new employees or younger employees is near impossible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give a little and you will get a lot back. Constantly squeeze everyone for every drop of blood and eventually they will all be demoralized.

    Pros

The people are the best advantage the company has. Everyone is really nice and willing to help out as much as they can.

    Cons

Management is very rigid and has completely demoralized employees by their continuous outrageous requests of more work, less vacation days and no incentives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Care about your employees.

    Pros

Absolutely fabulous people who take pride in their work and allow themselves to be overworked as a result. Its a very family friendly environment. Management believes that time off is essential for employee productivity and happiness.

    Cons

As the company has grown, corporate ownership seems to have forgotten that a software company's most valuable asset is its employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't lay off your most valuable employees just because they are highly compensated. They have earned that respect, title and pay.

I have been working at Epicor Software

    Pros

The employees know what they are doing. sense of family. flexible with working hours and working from home. salary. comp and benefit plan.

    Cons

Where to begin. Loss ethical guidelines. No respect for employees from upper mngt. Invoice Invoice Invoice as much as you can, above and beyond what is "accurate" to clients. No consideration to the cause and effect of the actions taken because executives want to hit the bonuses set on their contracts. No support to the PM team. They want PMs to be certified, yet they dont even have base plans to work off from. This was a good company to work and build a future back in the days, however coorporate greed has taken over. they are and will continue to lose key people; individuals that could bring positive change, but mid mngt is worried that those same people may make them look incompetent and lose their jobs. its sad to ask people to work 60 hours a week and still only pay them 40 hours, and to top that, they still invoice the clients for that added time that the staff puts in... greed, its everywhere, when will we wake up and say enough...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop destroying this company, youre shreding it to pieces and the clients that you take advantage of are the ones that will pay for it. Start listening to the people that have been screaming for years that the changes you are bringing arent working and is killing any hope of getting back on track. Go in as an undercover boss and see whats really going on... you have too many yes mans

I have been working at Epicor Software

    Pros

Flex Time, benefits are ok. Opportunities to train oneself with CBT's. Most employees are nice people. An there is free coffee.

    Cons

Lack of advancement opportunities. virtual salary freeze. Bonus system essentially for project managers only. Inept management. Frustrating experience which has been getting worse over time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your act together. Focusing only on meeting utilization quotas is not management. We had a decent corporate culture which is being destroyed.

I have been working at Epicor Software

    Pros

The free perks, the AMAZINGLY relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and the overall supportive and welcoming attitude of everyone at the company.

    Cons

Sometimes there is a lack of commeraderie and communication between the software development department and the department that installs the software onsite for our clients. This could potentially become a bigger issue if it doesn't get managed well...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would suggest that management host "sensitivity" workshops between the Development and Implementation divisions on a REGULAR and ONGOING basis, because having witnessed the feud from an outside vantage point, there are some serious downfalls in communication and realistic expectations that desperately need to be rectified unless they want to continue rendering poor service to the company's clients.
