Good start out company or company for working parents

    Customer Service/Dispatch (Former Employee)
    Wilmington, MA

ProsThe staff is friendly and helpful, upper management is very involved and accessible, light atmosphere, and very flexible hours which is good for college students and working mothers.

ConsThe only benefit they offer is health insurance and it is at a high price, there is one member of the upper management that is there far too often and offers his opinion when he doesn't know what the situation is, there isn't much room for growth.

Fly by the seat of your pants and no vision for the future

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsSome flexibility with scheduling, and worthwhile cause

ConsUnprofessional, fly by the seat of pants everyday -- behind schedule and all employees are overworked, underpaid, and under appreciated. Management is constantly in crisis mode and never capable of planning for fundraising or daily operations well enough to actually make a real or lasting impact. Volunteers are used and then ignored.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet a new CEO with vision and start hiring professionals -- open the floor to real collaboration between employees and the community

Good cause but unstable and difficult working environment

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsFair salary and benefits. Generally good people that care about the cause.

ConsI worked at the foundation for 5 years, during that time I had 3 direct supervisors and 5 CEOs. I think that about says it all.

Poor upper level management, continually changing direction, lack of board involvement, financial trouble and high staff turnover

Advice to Senior ManagementThis organization needs to start over at the executive level to be an effective organization. Too many "old timers" that are not willing to "really" change the organization.

Unprofessional and unstable work environment that will make YOU feel unstable

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsHelping individuals with epilepsy, connected with the epilepsy community

ConsI had an incredibly negative experience working with this organization. Management changes so often, and unfortunately due to management changes, I was let go from my position despite being there for some time. Horrible management and a distant "board" made for an incredibly unfair work situation.

Mediocre place to work, but probably fairly standard for the Nonprofit world

    Program Coordinator (Former Employee)
    Landover, MD

Prosmost coworkers were friendly, benefits were decent for a nonprofit, employees are pretty invested to the cause,

Conssupervisors were not trustworthy, employee expectations and "exceptions" were extremely inconsistent from person to person

Social services of clients living with Epilepsy

    Case Manager (Former Employee)
    Miami, FL

ProsMaking a difference in peoples lives. Advocating on behalf of children adults and family. Intrinsic work

ConsLow pay. Most positions require bachelors degrees but don't want to pay for them. Bad leadership, low benefits. Required travel but get difficulty with management wanting to pay for travel. Overwhelming amount of cases given to one employee. Constant turnover

Advice to Senior ManagementCompensate your employees well, give lesser cases to workers, stop micromanaging and you'll have less turnover.
