I worked at Epilepsy Foundation part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The staff is friendly and helpful, upper management is very involved and accessible, light atmosphere, and very flexible hours which is good for college students and working mothers.

    Cons

The only benefit they offer is health insurance and it is at a high price, there is one member of the upper management that is there far too often and offers his opinion when he doesn't know what the situation is, there isn't much room for growth.

I have been working at Epilepsy Foundation full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The staff here is friendly and work hard trying to get things done. Decent insurance and lots of vacation days.

    Cons

Management is absolutely horrendous. Unprofessional, unethical, disrespectful, not qualified, no respect for employees and thinks they can do it all. High turnover for good reason. No room for growth and really low pay. Look elsewhere!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to trust your employees....otherwise why did you hire them? Also wise to really look at budget because money seems to be coming in, yet nothing seems to be improving. Hmmmm...

I worked at Epilepsy Foundation full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some flexibility with scheduling, and worthwhile cause

    Cons

Unprofessional, fly by the seat of pants everyday -- behind schedule and all employees are overworked, underpaid, and under appreciated. Management is constantly in crisis mode and never capable of planning for fundraising or daily operations well enough to actually make a real or lasting impact. Volunteers are used and then ignored.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a new CEO with vision and start hiring professionals -- open the floor to real collaboration between employees and the community

Good cause but unstable and difficult working environment

    I worked at Epilepsy Foundation

    Pros

Fair salary and benefits. Generally good people that care about the cause.

    Cons

I worked at the foundation for 5 years, during that time I had 3 direct supervisors and 5 CEOs. I think that about says it all.

Poor upper level management, continually changing direction, lack of board involvement, financial trouble and high staff turnover

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This organization needs to start over at the executive level to be an effective organization. Too many "old timers" that are not willing to "really" change the organization.

I worked at Epilepsy Foundation full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Helping individuals with epilepsy, connected with the epilepsy community

    Cons

I had an incredibly negative experience working with this organization. Management changes so often, and unfortunately due to management changes, I was let go from my position despite being there for some time. Horrible management and a distant "board" made for an incredibly unfair work situation.

I worked at Epilepsy Foundation part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Making a difference in peoples lives. Advocating on behalf of children adults and family. Intrinsic work

    Cons

Low pay. Most positions require bachelors degrees but don't want to pay for them. Bad leadership, low benefits. Required travel but get difficulty with management wanting to pay for travel. Overwhelming amount of cases given to one employee. Constant turnover

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensate your employees well, give lesser cases to workers, stop micromanaging and you'll have less turnover.
