Pros
Good people to work with.
Cons
The leadership needs to be improved.
Pros
good pay, bonus at higher pay grades
good insurance, although expensive
Cons
Just do a person search on LinkedIn for Equifax as a past employer. Draw your own conclusion after looking at the talent that has left in the last year.
Advice to Senior Management
No advice. Pointless to give it. The strategy is to clear out IT and start over with cheap resources in 3rd world countries. We can't compete with pennies on the dollar salaries. Just remember, you get what you pay for.
Pros
Equifax maintains a great worklife balance. I have been given a great deal of opportunity to show my capabilies and develop new ones. Initially I was worried about working for a smaller company, but I have found it to be a big family.
Cons
Although the long tenure of many of the associates shows that this is a great company, many people may be "stuck" in their ways.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to do what you are doing. Challenge the status quo. Maybe relax & empower the associates to work more remotely, given certain qualifications (tenure, performance, connectivity, etc...).
Pros
Application learning, concern about employees family
Cons
Everyone you know ask you about all types of credit issues.
Pros
Benefits are decent, similar to other companies. That's the nicest thing I can think of right now.
Cons
Absolutely no recognition for working hard. Some flexibility in schedule, but no real work/life balance. Management is inept at best and maniacal at worst. All anyone does at Equifax is sit in planning meetings for projects that either fall apart, or are very ineffectively implemented. Promotions and advancement are based on one's ability to suck up to executives and NOT on capability or work history. So, if you plan on working there, keep that in mind for your career growth.
They claim to pay based on performance and meritocracy, but time and time again the restrict managers by specifying across-the-board increases (or lack of increases). Always received average and above average ratings for my work and saw a total increase of 3.8% over the course of FOUR YEARS! Completely not worth the effort and massive amount of personal time invested.
I left the company voluntarily after more thank six years of service because the stress of working there was damaging my personal and professional life. Poor leadership, ineffective product and project management, lack of recognition (personal or financial) and overall lack of respect for employees in general.
Advice to Senior Management
You need to actually recognize people for their efforts, not just say you do! Try listening to a divergent thought once in a while - you don't have all the answers or the company would be more successful!
Pros
Equifax is a brand name. There is a lot of flexibility. The benefits and wages are decent but it is truly not worth the aggravation.
Cons
Equifax is very political and their business philosophy is not conducive to motivating sales reps. There are too many people calling on one account, which is confusing to the customer and frustrating to the salesperson. There is no easy way to determine who is doing what. They have too many layers of management who try to look busy. There is no rhyme or reason how they distribute quota. Every time you have momentum, they change direction and move reps and accounts around. Commissions are supposed to be paid quarterly but it takes much longer. They do not release the comp plan until many months after the year begins and it is not easily deciphered. Management does not appreciate employees who perform and have work ethic and instead reward undeserving people who do nothing. Performance numbers are rarely received so you do not know where you stand. The amount of time they require to be spent on administrative tasks is ridiculous, and they constantly have calls and meetings to discuss the same topic over and over. I only wish someone would have told me all this. I would highly recommend you think about working for one of the many great organizations out there that have leaders who understand sales. The hard reality and truth is that is not the case at Equifax.
Advice to Senior Management
Whatever feedback I provide would be pointless. The common response I got was it has always been done this way and they’re not going to change it.
Pros
Semi established company
Excellent people to work with not including Sr Leadership
Cons
Gone back to the Good old Boys Club.
All Decisions are made at the Sr Leader level which has repeatedly caused confusion, mixed messages and often was the wrong decision thus wasting time.
If you are a female minority, you will be hired into the position you applied for however advancement is very slim
Advice to Senior Management
Low Margins, High Expenses, Low performing employees and non focused Sr Leaders is not due to the economy. The issue is all the knee jerk decisions and not obtaining voice of the customer before hand.
Mr Smith, You have two Sr Leaders that are quickly driving down morale, creativity and production by their negative and demeaning International Manager style and personalities. GBS and USCIS is about to crumble
Pros
Equifax provides a great chance to work with a good group of people that are pulling for a common goal. It is in a great location for a person with a family. Average yearly bonus.
Cons
If you have been a long term employee at Equifax, the pay will be less than other companies. It is better to leave and then come back in order to earn higher pay.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on delivering more stock options and higher pay to employees to encourage them to stay long term. Build well defined career pathways for younger, newer employees to follow.
Pros
Equifax is a highly visible employer in each market.
Cons
Lack of focus on employee development.
Advice to Senior Management
Leaders need additional support in developing their leadership skills.
Pros
Having the Equifax name on your resume'
Cons
There is absolutely no training. When it comes to promotions, it's know what you know...it's not even who you know - it's who likes you. Sharing of information is minimal. For a technology information company, it leaves a lot to be desired
Advice to Senior Management
Bet it together
