Pros
Multinational company, benefits, salaries, competence building are nothing new to Ericsson. These are the things that attract job seekers there
Cons
Poor management, declining products and a lot of competition forcing Ericsson to start cost cutting, affecting employee satisfaction and attraction
Pros
technical leadership, multicultural, international, products important to peoples lives, fun, leadership challenges, fantastic colleegues, creative, longterm, structure and chaos
Cons
stress, internal competition, technical competence not well-respected by management, coteries
Advice to Senior Management
Act and behave in line with leadership thought by internal management training!
Pros
great place to learn
open environment
mutual respect
best medical and dental
Cons
fear of being laid off every year no matter how you perform or the company
if you leave company you cant join back it is an HR policy
Advice to Senior Management
Just think of the families of the people who worked here for their lives and they get laid off rather retirement is not a good practice. ERICSSON is the best company to work for. But just blindly following the policy of other companies will hurt in future may be not business wise. I love Ericsson, what an employee need is motivation; if lacking performance, dont just fire them all they need is motivation.
Why Ericsson has become so cold blooded is out of my understanding.
Same way if some one goes out cuase he/she was frustrated and now after realisation wanted to come back give them a chance...allow them to fight in competition...this guy will work extra hard now because he has reaslised the value of Ericsson......
Pros
be exposed to project relating to big customer; secure job comparing with industry counterpart in recent years; be able to make long term career plan.
Cons
The payment is relatively low comparing with other IT giants; internal rotation is kind of hard; no overtime compensation any more;
Advice to Senior Management
given the removal of overtime payment, the motivation of certain groups such as support and field engineers dropped greatly since no recognition was provided.
Pros
Good innovators in Technology , products and services
Cons
Soemtimes a bit slow in decision making
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
- large company therefore lots of room to move around
- well known company so looks great on CV
- great opportunities to work on cutting edge projects
- work/life balane
- telecommuting options
Cons
- if you expect to get ahead based on merit, you're living in la la land
- Ericsson is a telco company, so there is no understanding of what you do if you work in IT
- too many silos
- too many management layers
- boys club, particularly at management level
Advice to Senior Management
Don't be afraid to say NO to the customer! What customers ask vs what customers expect are two very different things, which can result in Ericsson not making any profit - isn't that the whole point of a company existing - to make money?
Pros
Great benefits and vacation package
Cons
Salary and advancement not available
Advice to Senior Management
Advancement and training
Pros
Good name in the CV
Good technical knowledge and reference
Good on-hands experience
Flexible working hours
Excellent place for non engineering jobs
Good place to work with minimum effort unnoticed
Cons
No actual fairness, the mid and high management are all Italian (according to the nationality of the chairman in Egypt, in Turkey the chairman in Turkish and so is the management and so on)
No transparency
No retention for employees
No clear policies
No stability
Polices are always used against employees and never for their sake
No respect (I remember RMEA chairman was transferring to us a very serious message regarding layoff and instead of showing any respect he was just laughing and was telling jokes as if every thing was OK from his side)
Foreign managers are just doing nothing and getting very high salaries (almost 10 times the local stuff in addition to accommodation, medical insurance and scholar ships
Advice to Senior Management
In RMEA and NEA specially please resign.
Please Hans check the situations in RMEA it is very bad.
Start working on the dialogue outcome
Pros
Ericsson is the leader in the telecom industry.
Cons
No appreciation
Unstable organization
Easy hire, easy fire
Pros
Good place to work for
Cons
More recognition will not hurt anyway status quo to be interrupt should be the first prority for all the managers
Advice to Senior Management
try to find the best leaders beyond the current ones, hard to join the club, harder to be out of the private club
