    Excellent start to a career

    Co-Op (Current Employee) Athlone (Ireland)

Pros- Nice, well-furnished workplace, with a sizeable canteen with a great variety of food.
    - Very friendly, helpful team members; at least from who I have worked with.
    - Excellent opportunities to learn new programming languages and improve upon the ones you already have knowledge of. Courses and lectures pop up regularly and can be attended by almost anyone. Brilliant for students and inexperienced programmers.
    - Very kind, flexible line managers and scrum masters.

Cons- Communication issues with management occur on occasion, which can lead to dissent among some of the employees.
    - Uncompetitive salaries, particularly for co-ops and trainee engineers. If you aren't a senior software engineer, and you have a family, expect to work overtime to keep food on the table.

Advice to Senior ManagementWork on communicating more with your employees. If there is a shift in management, your employees should be informed before rumours begin to spread.

Pay raises should be doled out more frequently and starting salaries should be raised to attract the best talent. The company spends enough money already, yes, but pitching in more cash to get the best programmers and students would be very beneficial for innovation and productivity.

Getting better but lots of room for improvement

Software Engineer (Current Employee) Athlone (Ireland)

ProsFlexible working hours, good work/life balance, good social aspect, Ericsson have a large budget for employee training and certifications.

ConsMovement to agile stalled by non agile customers, lots of red tape and internal protocols interferes with actual design work. Compensation less than market average.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Bogged!

Senior Engineer (Current Employee) Athlone (Ireland)

    ProsGood infrastructure
Good and diversified ethnic people to work with.
    Work from home option
Good number of annual leaves apart from the sick leaves and national holidays
Nice opportunities to travel throughout the globe.

    ConsNo clear goals or vision
A bunch of lads who think the world runs around them.
Clear lack of thought process. Nobody wants to be a visionary.
The attitude in the air is like "Lad, get along with the crowd, will ya?"
Below market standard rates, need to work overtime to feed the family.

Advice to Senior ManagementWell, I'm pretty sure that someone wouldn't read this. But even if accidentally one of my ericsson lads spot this, just ask the upper management to have a look through what's happening across the industry and at least be reactive.

ProsThis company provides many ways to improve skill and knowledge. Good work life balance. Visible career path.

ConsCompensation & Benefits is very poor. Increments depend on the manager. All departments are not same quality.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to focus on Compensation & Benefits. Need more communication with staffs. Department should be assign as per individual skill and performance.

Overall a great company - great people, lots of opportunities

Customer Project Manager (Current Employee) Dublin, Dublin (Ireland)

ProsGreat people, good products, lots of opportunity to travel or work in diverse areas. Well structured organisation lots of interesting and challenging work. Ericsson has a great name and a great reputation, people are proud to work for ericsson

ConsEricsson compete in a low margin, competitive business, things can be very tight, Ericsson does not pay well but benefits are reasonably good. I've sensed a bit of a blame culture in some quarters, things can be very political

Advice to Senior ManagementI sense a lot of fear in local senior management - fear of loosing work, loosing control and becoming uncompetitive. I think they should show more courage, vision and confidence and more appreciation for a great bunch of employees.

    Service Engineer (Current Employee)

ProsIts a stress free work place and flexible. The amount of leave is good, most of the employees are easy to deal with

ConsThey may demand a lot of travel with poor compensation. The pay is very poor and very difficult to increase pay , this is the worst con but quickly followed by poor opportunities to develop and gain extra training
