I have been working at Ericsson-Worldwide full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Ericsson has one of the best benefit packages compared to any industry. The company does a good job in establishing a multi-year vision, but keep in mind that the vision is for the company, not for the employees. The people working in Ericsson (US and Sweden) in the internal organizations are some of the best!

    Cons

The customer units (aka sales teams) are some of the worst I have dealt with in 20+ years in the telecom industry. They do not care to follow any process which makes operations' job very difficult. The project management office leadership wants PM's to be strong, but Ericsson's own processes and the fact that the customer units are at the top of the decision tree force the PM into a conflicting and weaker position. Ericsson C-level management in the US are pushing PM's and operations into more of a sales-oriented mindset, though this conflicts with global processes and the customer units won't loosen their grip on the customer relationships.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

After seven years in the PMO, Ericsson US should take a hard look at how they want to be changing their process and do a better job of enabling employees to enact those changes. The sales teams still reign supreme when it comes to "running the business," and this does not work with trying to create operational efficiencies or trying to shift the whole organization to be more consultative toward customers.

    I worked at Ericsson-Worldwide

    Pros

Can find any Pro working conditions for Ericsson.

    Cons

Management is forced to lay off around 10% of the experienced work force every 6 months so they can hire new employees at a much low pay scale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to go back to the work structure that Ericsson had when it was managed be Sweden.

    I worked at Ericsson-Worldwide full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

You have many opportunities for growth through internal webinar trainings, ericsson RNAM is very generous at offering on-the-job training through job shadowing. Ericsson strongly encourages working with mentors.

    Cons

Many line managers can hold you back looking to further their personal goals and career. While at the executive level they offer many avenues for career growth and learning, there are line managers that prevent you from learning and moving and may put your very position at risk to further theirs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

While the career and learning culture within the company as a whole is great, there needs to be some kind of checks and balances that prevent line managers or local Directors from laying off your SME's and valuable employees whom have been with the company for 10+ years just to further their careers and keep other employees from jumping ahead of them. You have these people playing with others careers within RNAM and it must stop.
