I worked at Ericsson-Worldwide full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good vision for 2020 and supporting product and services portfolio. Good cash flow which can support this vision and take the company forward.

    Cons

Very unstable leadership and organization constantly keep changing which is distracting to day to day work. Employees get frustrated with changes because such fast changes does not allow them to focus and produce positive results. Lots of politics and bit of a rigid culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ericsson policy should not support constant changes in leadership because it does not allow company/employees to focus on the goals. Constant reorganizations are not really needed to meet and exceed results.

I worked at Ericsson-Worldwide full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Some of the best benefits available...especially health.

    Cons

Can be very "bureaucratic"...although a "large" company, some of the policies don't make a lot of sense for bottom line productivity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

California Contingency is too "political" in their decision making and self-promoting...

I worked at Ericsson-Worldwide full-time for less than a year

    Pros

100% of benefits were paid for, including family! The pay was competitive too.

    Cons

The team that was charged with acclimating us with the transition to Ericsson from MetroPCS already knew that it was temporary and that our jobs were going to be outsourced to Mexico. They misled us to believe that we were safe.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't mislead your employees. Business is business, but you are playing with people's livelihoods.

    Cons

    Middle management is practically powerless
    Fake autonomy
Matrix environment can be difficult to work in at times
Big company so process/change can take time

Former Employee - Senior Staff Engineer in Durham, NC

I worked at Ericsson-Worldwide full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Compensation and benefits better than average. Individual employees are valued. The company works with a wide variety of technologies and business models, and movement between departments is encouraged. Opportunites for overseas positions. Lots of travel.

    Cons

Although Ericsson is a world-wide company, the mindset is definitely Swedish. This means that the most interesting work is reserved for workgroups in Sweden, and other groups are considered second-class. Typical politics and bureaucracy of a large company. Lots of travel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider a flatter management structure. I often felt that upper management had no idea what was happening in the rank-and-file, do to the proliferation of superfluous VP, Director, and Manager positions.
