I have been working at Ericsson-Worldwide full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Competitive salary, excellent benefits. Ability to work on leading ICT technology with large projects that can have a profound impact on how people live and work.

    Cons

Like many 100,000+ employee companies, the bureaucracy is stifling and kills what could be a competitive company. Decisions are too slow, overhead makes it difficult to be competitive on price.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider smaller horizontally integrated work units. A major problem in getting stuff done is knowing who to contact to get a project scoped, priced, staffed, started, moving, fixed, etc. - and doing it all fast enough to get the work! You've got the matrix management model in place already. The chunks are just too big for people to assimilate all the names they need to know in order to function within that framework.

Please don't force one-size-fits-all solutions across the Globe without carefully considering operational impacts and hidden financial consequences. "Global tools" may look efficient from the Stockholm perspective, but sometimes they really aren't. There is enough variation in customer needs and ways of working that flexibility is a must have.

I have been working at Ericsson-Worldwide as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Work remotely. No micromanagement. Friendly, engaging coworkers. Room to grow.

    Cons

Management structure somewhat scattered. Leadership lacking.
Contract employee ramp-up and turnover every 6-18 months is typical business practice .
PC software reliability access & program or application connections cause productivity issues.
Systems and processes - not user friendly, complex and change constantly.
    Lack of accountability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Simplify work system processes
    Performance reviews for contract employees

I have been working at Ericsson-Worldwide full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very tangible desire to create value driven by a well articulated vision for society as a whole. Truly believe in technology for good. Global teams and opportunities. Great health benefits.

    Cons

Large company can take time to work through processes, still lot of technical Telco focus even when it comes to new areas such as TV or IoT. Some internal tools are outdated and clumsy to use.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be willing to be more bold and opinionated in thinking and communicating, walk the walk when it comes to technology and society evolution. We must operate as a company that lives in the Networked Society.

I have been working at Ericsson-Worldwide

    Pros

Growing industry with plenty of headroom. Pay is at industry average. Benefits are best in industry.

    Cons

Upper executives are completely detached from the work and don't want that to change. Work has become part of the service industry where doing more for less is the everyday challenge.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop talking values and live them. Get out of your offices and walk around. Understand the business operations.
