    Pros

Many opportunites for growth. Most everybody pulled their weight in an incredible team effort. Relatvely non-politcal.

    Cons

I understand that the culture has changed over time. I loved the culture at Ericsson , at least through 2011. Lots of opportunities and team players.

I worked at Ericsson-Worldwide full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The Pros that are listed below are based on work experience in Ericsson USA as a full time employee
CANNOT comment on other Ericsson locations / regions

Good Place to work if you would like to get a "Foot in the Door" in the field of Telecom
Virtually every Operator in the US is their customer , overall you get a pretty good exposure
Provide Training Opportunities both in class and on the field
Local Project opportunities are also available provided you have good "CONNECTIONS" within the company
Compensation and benefits are decent but a bit lower than what some competitors and operators offer
Provide work visa and green card sponsorship if required

    Cons

The Cons that are listed below are based on work experience in Ericsson USA as a full time employee. CANNOT comment on other Ericsson locations / regions

Company prefers to hire lots of fresh grads and foreign workers at lower salaries

As many users have mentioned in earlier reviews , there is ABSOLUTELY NO JOB STABILITY in the US offices. Layoffs are quite random, without any prior notice given to the employee. This is horror story for an employee working on a work permit. To make matters worse they notify US Immigration of the layoff within 2 weeks thereby making it harder for the employee to find another job elsewhere

Regardless of the financial performance of the company there is an annual 10% REDUCTION IN WORKFORCE . This policy ONLY exists in Ericsson NORTH AMERICA . There is no other Ericsson Region in the WORLD that has such a policy .... Some employees in the company used to call this " WORKIN WITH A GUN TO THE HEAD " . Management calls this "HIGH PERFORMANCE CULTURE" :)

Career Opportunities are based on 2 important factors : Your NATIONALITY and WHOM you know in the company :- Some people would call this Professional Nepotism . Although HR will vehemently deny this fact, regretfully this is the ground reality and unfortunately the bitter truth!!!!

If you happen to be European, particularly Swedish you can have your job as long as you like !!! The career prospects for them are endless and sky is the limit ! There seems to be a completely different set of standards and guidelines put aside for them.

Additionally having " BUDDIES " in management is an absolute requirement if you wish to stay on in the company

Once you are in the company its quite tough to get a salary raise. So its imperative to negotiate a good salary upfront at the time of hire

In conclusion , Ericsson North America should be viewed as Project Management company and NOT an Engineering company unlike the mothership i.e Ericsson Sweden . The only way an employee have longevity here is if by climbing up the Corporate ladder on the management path. Engineers are merely viewed as "TOOLS" to get the job done , and once the job is done , they are disposed off swiftly

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None . There is no point in advising.

I worked at Ericsson-Worldwide as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

    1. Reasonably flexible hours
    2. Overall, the pressure level is lower than in many IT companies
    3. Every now and then you might be allowed to work remote

    Cons

You may like this place if:

1.You love to spend most of your waking hours either in a noisy "bullpen" in the hallway, or doubled-up in a room about the size of the bathroom and without windows
    2. You enjoy explaining to people that the grass is green and the sky is blue - over and over again
    3. You really love being kicked out (aka fired) without as much as a single word of explanation. Next day you would report to work - only to find out that you were fired the day before and nobody can tell you why

If the above sounds like your dream job - by all means. If not - there are few hundred companies in the vicinity, do yourself a favor and pick any of them instead.

I worked at Ericsson-Worldwide full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I enjoyed the work and the dynamic nature of the business

    Cons

Ericsson has good compensation (salary/benefits), but beyond that they cultivate a stressful environment for their employees. Their obsession with laying off "low performers" ensures fear and an unwillingness to share information. Often, the new people are left with no support and are the ones cut.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some training on how to manage people with respect.

I have been working at Ericsson-Worldwide full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The best things about Ericsson are the great benefits, decent salary scale, overall positive work environment, and many competent and friendly colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

    Cons

Cramped office space in North American HQ interferes with productivity. Training program largely focused on internal initiatives instead of bringing in outside experts. Extremely complex matrix organization combined with the Swedish consensus mentality makes for long meetings and extended time to reach decisions, ultimately stifling internal innovation and feeding office politics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look for ways to reorganize the company along functional lines and assess, objectively, deficiencies in process workflow.

I worked at Ericsson-Worldwide full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I loved everything about the job until 3 levels of management left in 6 months. it was the blind leading the naked. I think it is a good company over all, but they use you up and spit you out.

    Cons

Over-worked, no positive reinforcement. Salary was okay, but not for the hours that were required under salary. If you were from Sweden you where held to a different standard that those from the USA.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't exchange 3 levels of management and expect to have good results. It wasn't that the new management VP down was doing things right, it was that they didn't do the right things right.
