Pros
Brand Name that helps you establish yourself in your career
Cons
Lack of training
I found senior managers to seriously lack basic ethics, and to be incompetent.
In my experience their talents lay more in the "cover my behind" department, and no, it wasn't just how the behind was covered which leads me to question their ethics, but why the rear had to be covered in the first place.
Advice to Senior Management
Introduce a course on ethical leadership, stressing on the long term benefits to the organisation. If you bought out large chunks of Arthur Anderson, you know that implementing SOX regulations will only get you so far.
Pros
Good people and nice environment, international exposures and decent salary. Leaders are very smart people and people share things with each other.
Cons
too many girls and the leaders are leaving the company. Make it not stable to work in EY, also people are not satisfied with the salary.
Advice to Senior Management
Increase the salary of employees and make the recruitment campaign more attractive by giving more campus talks and more interactions with students.
Pros
Good place to learn about your chosen field.
Cons
Little work life balance, no respect from partners and benefits poor compared to other big 4 in Singapore.
Advice to Senior Management
Partners should pay more attention to staff welfare and take home less as many staff are using the firm as a learning place only and will leave as soon as possible.
Pros
Global company with many different departments
Cons
Company is outsourcing more responsibilities
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
A good platform if you want to leave in 2-3 years.
Cons
Demanding hours. Some people can be difficult to work with.
Pros
Global opportunities, Brand name, industry interactions
Cons
Mundane work with limited opportunities to learn new things
Lack of work life balance
Advice to Senior Management
Need to look into growth opportunities for employees outside of their home countries
Pros
-Sociable and good people culture.
-Opportunity to grow, much to learn.
-Have a people focus, good for development.
Cons
-Some work may be monotonous/tideous.
-Not given feedback on assigned work.
-As an intern, there were times when there was no work offered.
Pros
Higher social status, a lot of learning opportunities, I am working at Financial Services Office ("FSO") where there seems to be a lot of internal transfer opportunities
Cons
There are already a lot of accountants and auditors in Hong Kong. Ernst & Young is not competitive to its competitors like PWC and KPMG.
Advice to Senior Management
Please place more importance on your staff. Please establish more channels to listen to your people. Please hire enough people to meet the workload.
Pros
-Good opportunities for growth
-Intelligent and creative people
Cons
-Pay scale is low for the industry
-To many politics
-Unclear direction regarding technology initiatives
Pros
There are many opportunities to work outside of your current area. Goals are factored into your responsibilities and you're encouraged to set and ensure that these are achieved. You learn a great deal and skills are honed. The people are nice overall. You work for a well respected company.
Cons
Long hours in the weekday and on the weekends. Salary is not competitive. You will get passed over for a promotion if not in a certain service line. Others are favored more than some.
Advice to Senior Management
Competitive salaries. If you work hard, have excellent reviews and performing at a level above your own, you should be promoted and compensated. Please alert your Management.
