Advice to Senior Management
Ensure that all employees are given the opportunity to work on engagements that will help in their professional development. There is also room for improvement in the benefits package the company offers.
Pros
Great place to start a career. You gain a lot of expereince very quickly. Best way to learn how to apply accounting principles, gain leadership experience.
Cons
Though the firm does emphasize a flexible work environment, the work still needs to get done and there is a lot of work to do. You have a lot of responsibilities and need to be willing to drive a lot and work a lot of hours.
Advice to Senior Management
There is too much emphasis on chargeability and utilization. If I work 60+ hours a week 6 months of the year, I should be able to work a little less, or at least not have to have 40 chargeable hours every week the rest of the year. With all of the admin, education, recruiting, volunteering on top of the chargeable time, not to mention commute, I may only charge 40 hours but work 60.
Pros
Experience, job advancement, international clents
Cons
Terrieble leadership, get a life
Advice to Senior Management

Pros
Relationships and exposure to various industries, etc. Everyone respects E&Y experience on the resume. I truly believe E&Y is the best place I could have started my career out of college - no regrets. I suggest starting in financial audit rather than IT audit, assuming you are an accounting grad. It is easy to move over to IT audit later, but vice versa is tough.
Cons
The work I did was very compliance oriented, and knowing that every hour is billed to the client (in theory) puts pressure on you.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay managers and above a true market rate.
Pros
life work balance is priority for senior management
Cons
compensation needs to be more competitive
Advice to Senior Management
more support and communication for lower staff
Pros
a lot to learn and makes you extremely marketable.
Cons
work too many hours and 4 months of busy season working saturdays
Advice to Senior Management

Cons
Work life balance is not always possible during busy season
Advice to Senior Management
Provide better support and resources on a timely basis
