I have been working at Erste Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

due to diverse setup- many opportunities, interesting jobs, location, diversity, ok salary, "lifetime employer", good restaurant, ok workhours in terms of banking

    Cons

constant changes, top management lacking real longterm vision, political games, some employees lack motivation, somewhat bureocratic system, slow implementations, holding is bloated and cuts are shifted to countries

    Advice to Management

is possible to get promotion, but highly political games, local people are highly preferred in advancement , company cant seem to afford top talents

    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

    - international environment - employee benefits (cafeteria, employee rates for bank products, sports club) - flexible working hours

    Cons

    - lack of management alignment - frequent restructuring imposes permanent change efforts and yearly goal reviews are often with different managers than goal setting - no consequent career path, employee development is frequently changed, multi year planning almost impossible

    Advice to Management

Better alignment on board and B-1 level, less fighting for personal gain, more focus on overall company benefits. More consequent following up on career paths. Better education of line management.

I worked at Erste Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Possible to work in really different areas. Not that much levels within the organisation. Direct line to mid and top management. Perfect work life balance. Nice location (Vienna center). Vienna is a very, very nice place to live.

    Cons

Very, very political, some weak mid management "no decision makers" . Legal is king. Due market environment and market structure (austrian retail market is an oligopoly) a lot of people concentrate on internal politics.

    Advice to Management

Set concrete targets, assign concrete tasks to your team. take some business risks.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Erste Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice view from the main buildings. Chance to move in the CEE group to countries with more fruitful economic environment.

    Cons

The company culture favours scapegoating. People are affraid of taking responsibility, decisions are delayed or not made at all at mid-mgmt or lower levels. The upper mgmt seems to lost connection to reality, they rarely perceive it. The working environment and day-to-day tasks are made stresseful by superiors and the company has been producing huge chunks of losses for 5 consecutive years now. Expectations for this year is also quite low.

    Advice to Management

    Eat what you cooked.
