    Pros

This is the rating for the Esprit store in NYC (not sure if it's still there anymore). Work environment was pleasant and professional compared to other retail experiences. Pay was also a little above average in comparison to other sales associate positions at this time. Managers were professional and pleasant to work with. Hours were fair.

    Cons

A lot of pressure to help everyone in the store even when they do not want help.
Store can get very messy at times and understaffed on certain days.
Commission bonuses- could be bad or good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust that your employees have already asked customers if they need help when they say they did, not all customers need help, some just want to be left alone.

    Pros

Our manager was willing to teach us about how to do better and just about work life in general. Our store wasn't too successful, but she was encouraging and helpful. She was really supportive of us as people, not just employees as well.

    Cons

Our store catered to people who were only looking to buy discounted items, which was really discouraging at the end of the day when we were looking at our numbers. It was hard to gain really good experience with selling because of our customer base.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize that at least some of us are there to learn and gain experience as well as support the bottom line. Help us grow as well as critique us.

    Pros

Great Associate Discount for all Employees

    Cons

Not a healthy working environment. I blame on the present leadership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All Senior Management needs to learn how to treat their employees in NYC corporate office/stores. Its evident in the business results. All relative. m sure this company will pull out of the US very soon.

    Pros

Esprit is a great company to work for in terms of it's global prescence, and there is opportunity to work with people from all over the world. The work/corporate enviornement varies from place to place, and depending what department you work in. They have a better then average PTO allowance. If you work in a smaller offfice (not HQ in Germany), there is a huge opportunity to grow professionally, and have expoure to all cross functional areas. In this situation, you also have more of a voice and are truly invloved in decision making, as opposed to huge corprate offices, where you may just me a number.

    Cons

Can only speak for the office/department I worked in. That being said, there was defintely a lack of recognition and employee moral. There were also major communication issues, some on purpose and some because of lack of experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be more consistency in strategy and better communication. Please also recognize employee's hard work and effort, not just their areas of improvement.

Former Employee - Sales Associate in Canberra (Australia)

    Pros

Easy to learn about management and supervisor roles because manager was really bad at her job anyway and pushed everything to us in the end.

    Cons

Difficult to communicate with upper management because they were all in Sydney and could not care less about what was going on in Canberra

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do better in communicating with stores other than the ones which were making you money in the first place. By focusing on the other stores that are not doing as good, you might not have needed to close those Canberra stores.

    Pros

    Structure organization. Nice office environment.

    Cons

    Dropping sales
Many changes in the senior level
    Conservative with projects

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too aggressive with the changes. The organization cannot focus on primary change. There are many product divisions and yet not being identified by customers. And the introduction of seasons is not recognized by the customers. Some other brands have also introduced a wide range and up-to-date SKUs. There are still potentials in jeans, kids, accessories and bodywear.
